1 dead after Colorado elevator malfunctions at 500 ft. underground

Several individuals were rescued from the entrapment and some sustained injuries.

I went down that mine when i was a teenager with my dad. I thought it was cool as a kid. 1000ft underground. I believe i still have the photos. Im sorry for the person who perished and no doubt those who were stuck down there being scared. I went 20 years ago (i just realized im old) with my parents and sister. I was going to take my daughter back in 2016 but things happened and we didnt get to go. Then again she and i like caves and have been to a few.

I Road those rickety outdoor Construction elevators all of my work and career. When one malfunction guys were jumping off the elevator with each floor we passed! I didn't bother because the counterweight hit the bottom when the elevator was 1 ft past the top floor!
