They said windows 10 was the last windows ever! Now they have changed that! it’s no longer pay for windows once, forget about it too it’s ending and pay us more

I think many Win10 users will use strong AV software and even AV pay version rather then being cornered and dictated by MS. You don't buy a new car because its available if your existing car with some maintenance works well for your needs. There is no full proof security with any MS upgrade anyways especially with so much marketing imbedded into OS. Doing Cloning/Imaging backups + AV + FW must be a priority along with safer browsing habits.

I have been using Linux since Slackware 3.5. Sorry to hear about your experience with the Linux comunity. You are one of the friendliest guys on the internet. I still use Windows, OSX and BSD as well. Please keep up your great videos. There is always something to learn.

Microsoft does not expect us to pay this money. They just want us moving to windows 11, where they have greater control on telemetry and subscription like services.

I know users who are still running XP, 7, and 8 without support. Why would it be different with 10?

I'll put Zorin OS on my laptop and purchase a new laptop. Zorin is close to the windows experience. I'll never purchase the security patch.
Great video as always

I hung back changing to win 11 on my gaming comp, mainly because of rumours about 11 not being as good for gaming, and my win 10 gaming machine was running great so i thought, why change?, however on my audio/video machine and laptop i've been running 11 for a while now with no issues,
(after debloating/tweaking). But last week i finally changed the gaming machine to win 11, everything went well, no issues and its running just as well as 10 did so far, i certainly wouldn't want to pay extra for win 10 security updates, unless i had no other option.
11 is fine now, i know they're were issues but just once debloated and tweaked it runs great in my experience on 3 different machines all performing different tasks.

Converting all older PC's and Laptops to MX Linux for my oldie cohort, who just use them for office box and media consumption. Very supportive MX community.

I'm not paying for extended Windows 10 support, and also not paying for Windows 11 unless it ships with cheap enough hardware. (I might need Windows to update some weird firmware once in a blue moon; those tend to have terrible software that REQUIRES Windows and also real hardware.)

I've been using Linux since 1995 and I still can't believe how utterly toxic the community is (depends on where you go, but it IS a problem!)

I shall be upgrading my Windows 10 machines to Chrome OS Flex. Already carried this out on a number of work machines, where we are using Google Workspace. I do have newer PCs and a laptop, which are compatible with Windows 11 but always good to use older hardware as well. Thanks for your insight Brian.

I've started a slow change to Linux 4 years ago. Not something to ruse, because you need to do some distro hopping to find a Linux distro and desktop that you like. Besides that you need to find a work flow with open source software. A old laptop or a mini pc is a good start. At the moment I still keep a Windows 10 system for doing a few specific things, but I probably abandon Windows for private use next year.

Hi Brian, Thanks for your video.

I fully agree. with you US$ 200 plus over 3 years save that and buy a new laptop or PC
If you can jump over to Windows 11
Or if you are on Windows 10 and your laptop or PC can't upgrade to Windows 11, another option is to use any of the Linux distros that you like.
(No hate for Linux at all, tried it, for over 2 to 3 months, and did not like it, so went back to Windows)

Till next time
Take care

Looks like I should prepare myself for the inevitable migration to 11. My reluctance has only been to the fact that some of my software is not win11 compatible. If at all, I might extend it for 1 yr only. Thanx for the heads up my friend.👍👍👍

Window 11 is just to push you toward's this Ai tracking world. I won't go to windows 11 . I have already switched to Linux . And find it very capable as a daily runner . I will keep a windows 10 machine just because some things won't run on Linux

Just ghost your hard drive and store your data on a portable hard drive. Also have a working backup copy of your hard drive as well.

Just upgrade unofficially. I upgraded my 4th gen i5 PC to win11 and it works just fine.

Thank you for this very useful news, Brian. It will be painful to pay the annual then doubling fee, and painful to see my two good quality (once very high spec) HP laptop workstations become "unsafe" to use fully . And then join the pile of five unused XP laptops that all work fine

What about 0patch? maybe a video on that? It doesn't seem expensive = I have downloaded it just to be ready.
