How We Rebuilt Clouded Moon

SO MUCH WORK went into making Clouded Moon different from Warriors. Even what I talk about in this 30+ minute video is still a very brief summary of the changes that stuck, NOT including discussions of potential changes that were suggested, tested out, and tweaked or discarded. Please give it up to Star Cat Studio's team for being so willing to roll with the punches and change this series up to be something that, hopefully, will stand out from its source material as a unique entry into the genre.

Also, though I do critique Warriors a few times in this video, this video is not about bashing the fandom. You can like the Warriors books and also like Clouded Moon. You don't have to choose.

As someone who grew up with Redwall and later Warriors and Wings of Fire this sounds amazing. My big complaint with Warriors is that the animals all spoke different languages and that shrunk the ability for the series to grow and add meaningful conflicts outside the clans. Foxes live in family groups. A family of fox's would be an interesting set of villains outside the usual evil cat dictator. Coyotes, wolves, hell even birds could be in conflict with the cats. Crows and Wolves act in tandem in real life, why not have crows interact with your cats instead. There is boundless possibilities and they could have their own faith and different magic systems that you could play with.

It started out as a My Hero Academia rp/fanstory with our ocs, but we have changed it up a fair bit and now its our own concept and we're happy with the direction it's going in!

I cannot express enough how excited I am for this series!!! The amount of thought & love & detail you and the other Clouded Moon directors have poured into this is just incredible. It's so clear that this is a passion project, which are always the best kind of projects to watch develop & partake in the content of IMO, as you can just *feel* all the care put into every aspect of it!

Also, if I may be extra-sentimental for a sec, the fact that this started as a fanwork which you guys then put the time & effort into making an original IP makes me extra-excited for this to succeed. I'm still very attached to fanworks, including my own, and I hope to draw on most of the fancontent I've made or thought of for my future writing. Because of that, honestly, Clouded Moon is a huge ray of hope & inspiration for me. It makes me want to keep going, to give my fanworks yet more thought & love, not to mention to make my original stories even better. Sorry, that's delving away from CM & the video itself, apologies. ^^; My point is: I wish Clouded Moon all the very best and I cannot wait to buy the books & devour them!!! Cannot wait to see all the excellent worldbuilding in action and, most likely, to cry my eyes out at the events in the story!

I absolutely adore what you have managed to do with a simple warriors rp. I love how everyone involved adds something they're interested in, making it such a unique and interesting project. Every time I see a video about the alliance on any channel I leave everything I had to do and just watch your amazing work. Can't wait for more lore introductions basically anything ❤

As a former Warriors fan and an aspiring author, I have a WIP about feral cats so I like listening to all the Clouded Moon videos you guys do so I don't accidentally make my own work too similar :') That, and I very much like the project overall!

Ok, I really enjoyed listening to this. I really agree and support all of the changes.
The idea that leader and deputy thing is from Warriors is stupid. Alphas in a Pack have betas, principals have a second-principal, presidents have a vice-principal and etc etc. The same for mentor and apprentice, because if you search for synonims for teacher and student these will be some of the first ones Google will give you. It's honestly more interesting to explore how other groups would fit in their territories and how their beliefs shape who they are and how they view things.
I'm also working on my own book series with wolves and I'm really trying my best not to add too many particular aspects from Warriors and I'm afraid I've failed right away since creating the Packs they live in. :, , ) (also, 4 groups of whatever isn't really Warriors inspired either, 4 is a "sacred" number).

Take it from someone who is a fan of fanworked video game remakes and spin-offs you were very wise to make this project into your own work and scrub off any chance of getting a C&D. As for when you would get one, well thats simple, if & when it gets more popular than the thing its based off of. I've seen it a million times in the world of video games, they'll only care when it starts to draw attention and fan enjoyment. They may not be doing anything special with the IP but they sure as hell don't want anyone else doing it either unless they are being paid the exorbitant licensing fee.
As a side note, if a major media company tries to buy into your project with promises of taking it to TV/Streaming don't believe them. There's been a buttload of people with their IP's signed over to the likes of Netflix, Amazon, Disney, etc. only to realize the only reason they bought them was to squash the rights and make sure no one else could turn it into a show either.
