The translation of "on" (indefinite neutral pronoun) have been wrongly translated by "they". "We" or "one" would have better carry the meaning. Jacques actually plays on the ambiguity of "on" on his indefinite form to finally include himself in the last refrain: "one can't leave/go", or "we can't leave/go" would be a proper translation of the last sentence.
This said, some difficult expressions have been really well translated in my opinion... Very good job on that 👏

The correct translation of the words at the end is not "they don't leave.", it's "one does not leave them". The speaker is stuck in that family and is going home without hope, saying 'good-bye' to the listener.
