The Sleuth

In the winter of 2001, inside of a Southern California police department, a fax machine in the corner of the room suddenly came to life. A moment later, a few pieces of paper fell into the tray, and an officer walked over and began reading them. As he did, his eyes went wide. The fax was a gold mine of evidence for an ongoing murder investigation that had begun to stall, so this fax was a major breakthrough. But as officers rushed over to see the fax for themselves, they all started to feel like something was off about the fax – it just seemed too good to be true. But regardless, the police followed up on the contents of the fax, and sure enough, it led them to their killer. However, let's just say the killer was not who anyone thought it would be.

She was ALL OVER that case. Surprised that didn't raise red flags pretty early on. "Look over here! Look over there! Do I have to do this FOR you?"

Mr. Ballen has a way of telling these stories without ever giving a hint of the real sequence of events and/or the real killer. It's why people tune in every week for his stories.

Angie helped police track herself down 😅

I don’t know what is more disturbing: the fact she used her friend’s advice on how to “kill a neighbor’s nuisance dog” to kill her husband, or the fact Californians seem to think it’s okay to poison a neighbor’s dog at all.

"Much to her annoyance." How horrible! The poor man was going through all that pain thinking his wife was caring for him, but she was really trying to kill him.

I clearly have an addiction I need to address. Edit: Actually no I don’t need to address it I love it here

I guessed this one right from the point overly zealous Angie wanting "to find the truth". Also being invited to "arrest scene" is something cops would've never done. Big ego I guess.

It was pretty obvious that it was the wife. Why she basically told on herself is amazing.

I knew someone who drank antifreeze when I was a kid because it tastes sweet. She was a toddler. I can’t remember how it even happened, but kids and animals are indeed susceptible to drinking it. They rushed her to the hospital and she was fine.

Talk about greedy, stupid, and arrogant! She had gotten away with murder (again) but couldn't be bothered to fight the insurance company in court or wait it out for a settlement. Nope. She had to try to pin an initially seemingly natural death on someone else so she could collect. The additional information about the baby just makes it so much more horrific. She is a monster.

Oh my gosh, I’ve been watching your channels and leaving comments on videos that you did a few years ago, but let me tell you I would’ve learned a lot more and paid a lot more attention in class especially for history if you would have taught it. I love learning I’m still learning Every day. I’m 40 years old and thank you very much for making the stories entertaining with the truth and your narrations.. and thank you very much for your service. My grandpa was a nearly 29 year-old teacher during World War II when he was drafted and worked on an aircraft carrier on the Atlantic for nearly 3 years. He is buried at the Santa Fe national Cemetery he is listed as a United States airborne army .. once again thank you very much for the entertainment for your stories for your honesty. I’m sure you’ve impact it. A lot of people’s lives in so many ways once again thank you so much for everything and your fans are wonderful. You have so much support behind you now I’m included. Also made my life a little bit easier in the emergency room for me as I work. Some crazy shifts downtime is taken away from my work and I can have a little bit of entertainment.

When you mentioned the camp 200 miles north of Los Angeles it sounded familiar so I looked it up. I lived south of where that camp was so I did some research online and found that that camp closed in 2005 and then found the writings on this entire case. She was quite the manipulator of just about everybody that had anything to do with this case. So unbelievable that she killed her own kid for life insurance. What a monster!

I knew it was Angie from the beginning, she’s a psychopath and probably would’ve actually gotten away with his murder but she’s so narcissistic

Rodriguez was awarded a new sentencing hearing in 2010 but was re-sentenced to death in November 2010. She was later yet again awarded a new sentencing hearing in 2024 based on the claim of ineffective assistance from her attorney. This time the district attorney declined to seek the death penalty and she was subsequently resentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. source wikipedia.

I usually cannot stand ads including 'in-house' advertising but when it comes to Mr. Ballen here advertising a new or existing channel, I'm hooked and will happily listen because he makes it fun. That doesn't mean sir I'm going to buy that garlic and lemon ice you successfully sold to the like button😂😂😂

When these stories include children, please let us know what happened to them. I often find myself wondering what happens to children when their parents die / are in prison.
