Solved IT - MS Excel Showing The Formula In A Cell Instead Of The Result || Formula Text Displayed

In this tutorial, let us learn how to resolve when MS Excel showing the formula in a cell instead of the result

In some cases when we get the system dump of data, Excel sheets might face this problem of not showing the result when you enter some formulas.

Let us understand this problem with an example in this video and let us see how to resolve the issue.

Here I have some data which has been extracted from some external software.
If I want to now get results in column E using formula from other sheet and I enter vlookup formulae in the column like this.
You will observe that MS Excel showing the formula in cells instead of the result.
The problem is that the column is in text format as we have extracted from external software.
In this case, as part of the resolution, we need to select the entire column and change the format to general from text format.
Now, going to the first entry in E3 and remove the = symbol and press enter.
And again go to the cell E3 and type = infront of formula and press enter, you can see the result coming up now.
Now drag this formula to the bottom of the table to see the results showing fine instead of formula text.
