Have you considered that dead whales tend to float and sharks are avid scavengers of said dead whales? This great white isn't attacking, it thinks it's eating the most rubbery dead whale of its life.

A lot of flawed ideology went into this study. First off, great whites may cooperate on a bait ball because the food source is the reason for the drive, not cooperate fighting against a larger deadlier adversary, where risk is extremely high. Sharks team up with dolphins, sea birds, seals, and tuna on a vait ball. That does not mean the sharks will side with each other for combat.

Second, Great white Sharks leave quickly at the very hint of another great white's death in the water caused by killer whales and they dont come back for considerable time. There is no cooperation to defend against an orca. So why would they team up against a larger predator?

Silly premise, it should have been Meg. Vs. Leviathan... They lived at the same time and would have competitors. Pretty disappointed with the start of Shark Week !!

Totally agree !! It's been a fairly lame Shark Week so far. I decided to make the phrase "let's do this" a drinking game but the hangovers after the first two nights have been too much !! 🤣
