They know they do the same in equal cars. But luck and smart choices make a part on this. Alonso could be a 10th world champion if he made the right choices... Goat for me is Michael, like seb said, kinda emotional thinking. But Lewis achieved the same amount of titles as Michael and still more Poles and victories and he keeps going... He had luck and he made good choices. He is one of the most skilled in the sport not to say the best but if he made the same moves as Alonso, he would be a 1 or 2 world champion... Vettel told facts but still made people know how he feels about it. He has class as well as Hamilton does. They respect each other because of that also.

This is also exactly why drivers and people often say Senna as the GOAT, since he was the greatest of his era and his era was by far the most competitive and most talented era of all. Fangio only had himself to fight against. Nobody in the 60s or 70s achieved dominance, in the 80s you had extreme talents all around the F1 grid and Senna still dominated. In the 90s nobody dominated and in the 2000s Schumacher only had himself to fight against.

The fact that Lewis had Alonso, Vettel, Raikkonen, Rosberg, Button and the likes of Verstappen and still dominated is also very amazing.

Being an extremely massive fan of Lewis, even then I’d still say Schumacher is the greatest ever. Hamilton is right there with him, an incredible 8th championship WITH Ferrari would probably put him past in most people’s eyes. Right behind Schumacher & Hamilton, are Senna, Prost, Alonso, Vettel, and even someone like Verstappen is making his way up there.
