How does the Standard Model work?

If there is one theory that particle physicists can't stop talking about, it is the Standard Model. This theory describes all known particles and their interactions. It is incredibly powerful, but unfortunately also incredibly complicated. High school mathematics won't get you very far if you want to work with it.

But what if you don't want to work with it, but instead just want to understand the general ideas behind the model? Well, then mathematics is not strictly needed. I think it is possible to understand the basic ideas upon which the model is built without having a PhD in advanced mathematics.

In this video, these basic ideas are explained. We will explore energies, local symmetries, fields and Feynman diagrams. Don't worry if you don't understand these concepts yet. After watching this video, you will know all about them ;-)

You… just explained gauge theory of fields… like that. Yes, there are Maths behind, but… the easy intuition, the clarity. The Lagrangian, … time shifts, phase, Lorentz, special relativity embedded, infinite local shifts… a second field… the photon, … everything clicked so easily. I had understood the pieces of the puzzle before, even Lie groups… and you just made a fun video that anyone can understand. Hat off, thank you.

I recently found your channel and have been watching all your videos with enthusiasm. I love your content. It’s all well informed while keeping it relatively newbie friendly which is nice because I can send these to my friends and family lol. I can’t wait to see what more you have to offer! Thank you

Wowzers love this presentation. How dare you explain this so math impaired people can grasp the standard model concept. :) Very cool, thank you for your effort in this.

What a joy to have discovered this channel. I will proselytize

Love your humor. It is enormous task to explain physics with language, that evolved to describe where are the sweetest banana or where are lions waiting to eat you (a bit exaggerating).

Great video! Really enjoyed every bit of it. It would like to learn more about the particular particles and what they are doing.

I watched every video of you in a short period of time, because they teach me so much! I love physics and I don’t have the time to learn it the complicated way, but with your videos it’s easy to understand and it is motivating me to learn more!! Pls do more videos, I love them. Greetings

Also, if you want to calculate the amount of electron energy in a battery, it will be half the visible mass of the smallest cell.
Because protons can only "share" one electron so when charging a battery cell only half the visible weight can be moved away into the mains power supply leaving a positive charge that is equal to half the visible weight in grams. All because of the standard model.

An atom is stacked particle weights the electron weight occludes all the deeper weights until it is moving or the atomic structure is tortured to expose those deeper weights.

In other words proton weights are "Dark Matter" in a stable atomic structure.

Superb! Great work!
I would like you to challenge the vicious circle between energy, mass and gravity. I guess it is a hen and egg problem

Great video. I remember reading Feynmans QED book many years ago and found it interesting. It started with how reflection works and then got to how a positron is an electron going back in time? Or something like that. Would be a good video I think.

This is a fantastic video! Especially for my maths-less self :)

I have a question though. I loved your ‘all electrons are the same’ video as well, but here we see electrons at different energy amounts such as 16:32. Doesn’t this mean there is a difference in electrons in how much energy they have?
Cheers!

Maannn... Why is this type of video not getting more views while other channels spreading misinformation and clickbaity content have millions? smh

btw love your work 🙌
