Just a FYI.
She lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a while. When my dad was in his late teens he worked at the Downer Pharmacy when one day, all by herself she walked in and as my dad put it, "you could sense she was a strong willed person." He felt honored that he was able to personally help her. And to think she went on to become an icon in the middle east and known throughout the world!

Golda Meir has been an example to many women, never to underestimate ones power, and to commit oneself to any cause taken.
What a powerful lady to make her presence felt amongst the male dominated world, especially during those times...Not an easy job!!
She is definitely an inspiration, to the women all over the world..
She was chosen for a cause, and she fulfilled it undoubtedly.
❤❤

Wow! What an incredible woman. I'm ashamed to say I'd not heard of her till today. She certainly deserves more recognition for what she has done in her life.

What a life. Born in Ukraine, grew up in the US, went to Palestine - only to rise as one of the most important politicians in Israel. Remarkable woman.

Great documentary, very well explained. My grandmother from former USSR often mentioned her and the encouragement she gave to Jewish people to consider to move to Israel. Amazing woman!

I'm of the generation that was alive during the 7 days war and battle of yom kippur. I remember what an honored and respected woman she was and her death was greatly mourned in the US and the world. We knew the world has lost a great leader.

I arrived in Israel the same summer as the Yom Kippur War when Golda Meir was Prime minister. I can still hear her clear, slightly American accented Hebrew over the radio. I have family, recently passed away, whose parents sailed on the same boat as Golda. She dedicated her life to the Jewish state at the cost of a domestic family existence, although she was well know for her "kitchen cabinet".

I was born the same year as model Israel 1948. As I grew older I watched so many news reports describe the pioneering Israelis.I really was inspired by the Jewish women I saw on big and little screens. When Golda Meir became the leader of Israel I was astounded that a woman could achieve such a goal. Our grade school song was from the movie Exodus. “😮This land is mine, God gave this land to me!”

Recently I have written her biography in my mother tongue "Marathi". It is being well received by the readers. I enjoyed this documentary very much.

Golda rose to "power & prominence" when I was a child growing up in the USA. Back then, we as children here were taught about US History and World History...there was not a "current History" or "Civics class" almost until my mid Junior year in highschool. (I'm 60 now) Sure, as a kid I saw her name all over the nightly news that my parents watched each nite after dinner or on the 11 o'clock news but never paid much attention back then. Fast forward to now - I see this segment in my random suggestions & was drawn to it. It didn't disappoint and am glad I watched it. Thank you!

Its very hard to find a leader who is so dedicated to the course of his/her country .
No greed, no tribalism, selfless,
There is alot to learn from this legend.

She did what she could with what she had to achieve to the extent that she had. For a women to achieve so much in a male dominant world in that era is remarkable

This comment may come late but Golda Meir was a hero to the Jewish cause. Her accomplishments as woman, diplomat, leader is unmatched! God bless her soul and may her labors for a free and peaceful Israel in the land of their ancestors be realized in our time!

I have always admired Golda Meier. She was a strong, opinionated and dedicated leader always wanting the very best for her beloved Israel. The pictures in this documentary make it a even more interesting true story. We are familiar with the later photos of these leaders but seeing them so much younger makes them even more real. The narrator was good. Very factual and explained it very well. Wonderful account all together.
