This Cadillac is equipped with the auto dimming Guide-Matic feature (formerly the Autronic Eye). For 1964, the old phototube encased in a dash-mounted ray gun-like housing was replaced with a hidden “eye.”

You can see the Guide-Matic “eye”hidden above the headlights in the chrome molding above the left headlamps on this 1964 Cadillac.
