Just FIY for those wondering, this is not Tadelakt. Tadelakt is an eco-friendly, extremely labour intensive finishing that is commonly used in Morocco and historically in Europe where natural plaster is polished with a stone. I know, it sounds crazy! I believe what is used here is a "modern" version of Tadelakt, that can be easily bought. Unfortunately not eco-friendly :)

Thank you so much for the video. I have been trying to explain to my husband what Tadelakt is without knowing the correct terms. I experienced outdoor showers made this way in Tanzania and absolutely loved it. With the help of your video I will be able to redo our bathroom! Again thank you

The most common issue people have with this shower system is mold in corners or areas that constantly have standing water. Please keep us updated, and let us know if any issue arise. Great job, and Thanks!

Yes! I’ve been searching YouTube for ages having no idea what these style of bathrooms are called … I was inspired by what I saw in Greece on the islands, this smooth natural finish in interiors and particularly bathrooms. My own bathroom that came with the apartment I bought is an awful IKEA tile thing that I want to self renovate and your video has just given me the first glimmer of hope that it is possible. I have a lot to learn … I’ve got as far as ‘how to remove tiles’ but I need to also demolish part of an internal wall and get everything ready for this Greek rendering style. I’ll subscribe and look at the rest of your vids. Thanks !

Thank you for sharing this extremely time-consuming process. I have learned a lot through your videos. I would love to know how you rounded your corners and edges such as around the pony wall. Love the softness it creates. I would also love to get an update on how it withstands against mold!! Looking forward to more videos from you.

We just did our shower like this!!! It’s sooo beautiful! We loved the dark so much we didn’t mix as much the last layer and kept it darker - it’s such a vibe! It was way more work than my hubby wanted but it’s finally done! Very labor intensive ❤Thank you for the inspiration Mr. Washington. We had a rock shower planned and as it sit in piles and we have a 2story, to go back and forth cutting and placing quickly became too big - this was the next choice 😅

I'm really enjoying the information and quality of your videos. As someone who is planning a home build right now and plan to get down and dirty with natural finishes, I'd love to see what else you've been up to. Thanks for putting all the work you do into these videos, it's much appreciated.

dont you have to presure the surface with a stone? I learnt that tardelak needs presure on every layer. Also after the oil you have to presure it again otherwise you lose the funktion after some time. Or do you use some advanced material with extra ad ons?

A year on how is this holding up?? I’m desperate to try this on my new bathroom but people have told me it takes a lot of upkeep and I should be worried of kids finger marks 🤷‍♂️. Just wondering if you would do anything different and if you’re experiencing any issues. I was considering a shadow gap at the bottom of the wall to remove any chance of the tadelakt being exposed to standing water.

I’m a tile installer and I was curious if you could answer a few questions about this stuff. The work looks great but I’m curious how often you reseal it with the soap to uphold the waterproofing of the final coat? When I’m installing natural stone the sealer I use says it last about a year but I often see it stop working much sooner. Also, how easy is it clean? I would imagine it is quite porous. Does it get harder to clean as the soap sealer wears off or does the soap sealer give it a smoother texture allowing it to be wiped off like a semi gloss paint would?

This was SUPER helpful. I think that I have found what my guest bath will be! I was wondering will you cover what you did for the ceiling in the shower and the floor?

I would love a bathroom like this. Looks and feels grounding, relaxing, and soothing. I wonder what the results would be if distilled water was used instead of tap.
