How you get into scap loading matters.⁠

Getting the arm safely into scap loading means keeping the humeral head centrated.⁠

This means relying primarily on scap retraction (example #1) vs yanking into the anterior shoulder (example #2).⁠

Watch how easy the arm flips up in #1⁠

This has implications for not just how you cue and evaluate mechanics, but how you cue and evaluate all pressing and rowing movements in the weight room as well.⁠

If the scap and t-spine can move properly, the anterior shoulder doesn't have to pay the price.⁠
