Faster Mobile Internet for FREE - No… Seriously

Cloudflare has boosted their 1.1.1.1 app with something they call WARP. It's a VPN that makes your internet faster, but... maybe not in the way you'd expect.

Time and time again I hear VPNs boasting "a safer internet cuz we encrypt it!".

You do not need a VPN for this. Any site which uses HTTPS (has a padlock in the URL bar) is already encrypted and secured even on public networks.

The only thing ISPs/attackers can sniff on HTTPS connections is the IP address of the site you're visiting, not even the full URL.

A public VPN like this is only useful if:
- You visit insecure HTTP sites which handle sensitive data (which you shouldn't trust anyway).
- You want to hide your IP to get around geolocking/firewalls.
- Trust the VPN more than your ISP with your browsing habits.

If you want to access your home network safely from anywhere, you need a personal VPN, which is a different topic.

If you just want a faster internet, you can try setting your DNS nameserver IP to 1.1.1.1,
maybe they resolve URLs faster than your ISP's DNS, but you don't need WARP/WARP+.

UDP does not have error correction, sure is faster but more prone to errors .... aka dropped packets
