Why Flying Cars Are Stupid And Will Never Happen...! Why Flying Cars are a Dangerous and Stupid Idea. Flying Cars, VTOL or otherwise, aren't ever going to catch on mainstream. Not only is getting a pilots license really hard, but do you really trust your average moron in a car, to now start flying too? Imagine all the horrendous acts an edge lord could do. They could easily cause several thousand to log out of life, just by aiming at populated centers.
This video is heavily inspired by Adam Something’s Video, but I wanted to build on some great ideas he brought up, as well as bring up some new ones and other concerns. They are an Infrastructure Nightmare
They need Runways, even if you share a runway per neighborhood, that’s a huge waste of space. Adam already talked about runways in his video, so I instead want to focus on the annoying comments I kept seeing on his video. VTOL AKA Vertical Take Off and Landing. 4 letters that will make any tech bro cream their pants.
However, VTOL is not as easy as you think. You’ll need special heat resistant driveways using the same material used on VTOL Small Carrier Decks.
Do you think every local business or city will shell out the cash needed to build these Heat Resistant VTOL Landing Pads? Yeah right. Unless they raise our Tax Dollars through the roof, they don’t have the incentive to make tons of VTOL Landing Pads.

I've never thought that flying cars would be a future. My biggest concern was always distracted driving. I'm not trying to be killed because their Nissan Altima: Air-Raid edition missiles the entire vehicle through a building I work at because they were doin their nails mid flight

Imagine you paid the heated seat on your new BMW, and see a check engine light while you're driving at 230 km/h at 3 meters of some building

My biggest concern, is definitely distracted driving...

*AND THE ATC COMMUNICATIONS NIGHTMARE* those poor guys at control tower will have to deal with.

As a Car guy who is also an aviation buff I always tell people the following:

We already have flying

called "Airplanes".

Flying cars. The unholy union of the worst aspects of general-aviation aircraft and cars. All of the baggage of owning an airplane with none of the benefits.

I hope flying cars never become mainstream. I do NOT trust the average person with a flying car. Too many people are bad enough drivers on the ground.

Editing the comment removes the heart. Aw man...

Flying cars already exist... They are called planes and helicopters. This is available to us already. Yet people fail to pass the driving exam... How are they going to pass the pilot exam?

Honestly, I feel like flying cars will be nothing more than another toy for the rich. There is just no practicality to it. And that’s the best case scenario.

As a licensed pilot who gets into armchair discussions on the Internet…
You are spot on bro.
I cannot fathom trying to explain the complexities of airspace types, weight and balance, radio procedures, and common weather hazards (like thunderstorms and high winds) to someone like a know-it-all Karen, or a teen-bro that couldn’t care less if his wing was rusted through. If you think driving is unforgiving, aviation is more so, and it’s honestly not for everyone.

A bath tub with 4 drones attached to it is more practical.

As a military nerd, i promise you the military do more shortcuts to save money when producing the specific tool, but for some reason have unlimited spending. so whenever you hear surplus military grade equipment it means shítty equipment that will break soon

What if we make a specific frequency around buildings that stop the cars from functioning or they slow down when near a building. The cars always will look for the frequency so it’s hard coded.

I remember re-watching Back to the Future 2 a few years after I got my drivers license. The first time I saw it, I thought flying cars would be a cool thing. Then after putting some miles under my belt, I realized people are too stupid to safely navigate in two dimensions, and it would be infinitely worse if a third dimension was added.

My main concern in the near future is self-driving cars and the effects that they will provoke, just having high ways full of cars with no one inside. That's gonna be wild.

In the words of the laserpig "if you ever seen how New Yorkers drive you'll know why Flying cars are a bad idea"

Union Pacific, the railway company, tried using turbine-powered locomotives in the 50s'. All of them were retired by 1970 because of a lot of problems, but one of them was that the exhaust was so hot that they would literally melt the asphalt when they were idling below a bridge, through the concrete. So having one or multiple turbofans blowing straight down onto the road would "not be ideal"

As a student pilot, I don't think that the average person would put up with stall recovery, it is uncomfortable, and to give you an idea of how uncomfortable it is, when my flight instructor demonstrated a stall to me for the first time, he thought that I was going to throw up and headed to the airport to land the airplane

Well... I wanted to become a pilot once, but to become one you need to spend somewhat between 2 500 to 30 000€, depending on what kind of license do you want.
