Personally i never tried supersets coz i'm not really fond of them.
But i can say that Drop sets are good for hypertrophy and strength improvement similar to progressive overload.

A SUPERSET is actually when you work apposing muscle groups back to back, (bicep curl/tricep extension) a COMPOUND set is working same muscle group with different exercises back to back, (bicep curls/hammer curls)

My wrestling coach had us do drop sets and within the first month i gain soo much strength and moved up one weight class because i was building insane strength and muscle. I had to say also that i would consider them noobie gains.
