Ruth leaving her family to be with God reminded me of
Luke 14:16
“If any man come to Me and hate not his father and mother, and wife and children, and brethren and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.”
She left everything behind to be with Noami instead of her own family.

I totally agree that Ruth should not be read as a "moralistic" story, but it is SUCH a breath of fresh air after reading through Judges! After reading Judges, I felt dirty, but the faithfulness displayed in Ruth was a salve to the soul.
As an aside, it seems the contrast between the end of Judges (i.e. the story of the Benjaminites, the ancestors of Saul) and Ruth (with the ancestors of David) may have been a subtle political commentary.

I am truly thankful for Tim’s dedication and messages. ❤
It’s such an important thing to tie in each book of the Bible with the whole story as he has. He fits it in with the larger story line. I love the story of Ruth and Naomi -I had just read it earlier this week - but hadn’t seen the connection with the gospel of Christ until this morning! This is why I believe the promise that says God‘s mercies are new every morning! So, as I woke up, I was feeling sad for wasting my life and my self for so many years, but then I got down on my knees, and declared to the Lord, You are my redeemer and I know you will continue to redeem my life. And the beautiful part is, this was before I listen to Tim’s talk.
