Have you ever thought "When will I ever use this?!" about a subject or concept in school? You’re not the only one! Students asked NASA this common classroom question and in this video you’ll hear answers from astronauts, a planetary scientist, a robotics engineer and other NASA experts. Watch as they share how they’re still using a few of those unexpected classroom lessons today at NASA.

This video was a collaboration between NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement and the U.S. Department of Education.

0:00 Am I ever going to be judged for participation?
0:54 When am I ever going to need to use these history lessons?
1:24 When am I ever going to need to use chemistry, physics, math?
2:10 When am I ever going to need to study as an adult?
3:08 When am I ever going to need to present anything?
4:04 When am I ever going to need to work in groups?

We’re launching STEM Engagement to new heights with learning resources that connect teachers, students, parents and caregivers to the inspiring work at NASA. Join us as we apply science, technology, engineering and mathematics to explore space, improve aeronautics, examine Earth and strive to land the first woman and first person of color on the Moon with the Artemis program.
