I was born in 1938, so now I’m 84. I was pretty young during the WW II years, but I had two sisters still living at home, twelve and fifteen years older than me. I remember them listening on the radio to a lot of this music, often singing along with it. I had three sisters, but sadly I am the only one still living. Not only do I like this music, it takes me back to when my sisters were still living.

My father was a veteran of WWII in the Canadian army and he used to sing "It's been a Long Long Time" to my mother and us when we were little. It brings me back. What a guy! I really miss him.

My father was on Omaha beach, the battle of the bulge and the liberation of the Buchenwald death camp...He would remember fondly these songs. He is gone now but his indelible mark remains forever...

Well, I was born in 1951. My dad in 1923 and my mom in 1927. My dad was one of Patton's boys and passed in 2010, and Mom passed this year (in January) at the young age of 95. This music brings joy to my heart and tears to my eyes. I miss them both so very much.

Being born -63 and growing up in a railroad town in Sweden, I had the opportunity to see, meet and spend time with many veterans and Holocaust survivors, along with re settled refugees from the countries involved in the war. I spent many days hanging out in a radio repair shop, the owner was a Holocaust survivor who took a liking to me and had the patience to answer my million questions about everything from his vast knowledge about the world in general, and radios in particular.
He cried when showing a couple of pictures of his family, and told me they were all gone. I hope he has internet access in heaven and read this:
Thank you, Vielen Danke, Herr Adolph Bernhard, for everything you taught me and for all the love you had in your heart.

I lost both parents last year. Dad was 95 and served in a navigator on a B 52. Mom was 93 and was waiting to be called in as a nurse. Both loved these songs and so do my siblings and I. 🥲 🇺🇸✝️🇺🇸

I'm 57 years old. Grew up listening to rock music. But when my parents would watch world war 2 movies it took a while, but started liking the music. Now I have a Glenn Miller CD and some other early CDs from the 50s and 60s.

I was born in 1967...My mother was born in 1948... My grandparents met during the end of the war and married right afterwards... My mom had me in high school and she raised me, but I spent a lot of time with my grandma and grandpa... among the greatest and cherished memories I have next to my wife and children... I grew up hearing all the music from the 30's through the 40's played on vinyl on my grandparents big ole console stereo.... man I loved those console stereos.... my step dad had one also and i grew up listening to his classic rock on vinyl as well... GREAT MUSIC AND A GREAT GENERATION... I learned all the good things I learned from my grandparents.... work ethic... respect for all people when they earn it... Love of God, family and country and to look to the needs of others around you in need before worrying about yourself... Peace Out!...😁✝🎸🎹🎺🎻🎷🎙🎶🎵🎼
