USAF Band WWII Holiday Flashback

Our 2015 holiday musical flash mob at Union Station in Washington, D.C. honors our nation’s WWII veterans and gives the performance a vintage look! This "pinks and greens" WWII era uniform earned its nickname from the pairing of the dark olive-drab wool coat with lighter drab trousers, which had a pinkish hue.

This flashmob features an extraordinary dance troop from NYC (choreographed by Jessica Hartman), and a cameo appearance by Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James!

Wonderful. My father played both clarinet & saxophone in an army band during WW2. He also knew how to play the violin. He played in a string orchestra for twenty five years until he was 100. He passed last year or made his transition as I like to say at age 102. He blessed many with his music.

I am retired from The Royal Navy here in the UK, I was in the navy band. When I left, I was a professional entertainer for over 40 years. Now retired at 65 years old, I am a radio presenter. I loved Glenn Miller with his USAF Band, and I JUST LOVE THESE GUY'S TOO!!!

As a former US Airman I can honestly say that the performance was not only very enjoyable but filled me with pride.  Many thanks to those that contributed and to all those that continue to serve in these troubling times.  what a great theme choice this year.

The band really looks "squared away" in their US Army Air Corps uniforms. Thanks USAF Band

The USAF Band, stationed out of Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. These Airmen are dressed in WWII Army Air Corp uniforms. This music is the reason i am alive. My Great Grand Parents met at a theatre in London. Listening to big band music. during the War. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! God Save the Queen!

These guys, whatever they do, they always give it a 101%. They could have done this in their current uniforms and still would have been fantastic, but to actually dress in their Army Air Corps uniform - perfection to details. That lead singer, the looks, the voice, seems like she traveled through a time machine from the late 40's.
As expected, the performance and the musical arrangement is impeccable. USAF Band is truly the best military band in the planet.

My parents loved Big Band music. I am a proud Air Force Brat. We supported my Dad's military career & followed him to every assignment.

I showed this to my now deceased Great Uncle. He was in the United States Army Air Corp. He stated that the uniforms seemed to be correct, but he never saw those guys in the Pacific.

I remember the USO clubs where these kinds of bands played to keep up moral. Glenn Miller joined and took his music all over Europe. Compared to all the other "fat" in military budgets, I'll take this any time! WONDERFUL!

Awesome in every way...total class act !! ..thanks USAF !

....and coming from an old soldier, why the the Army abandoned such a classic uniform that was easy to care for and looked so good I'll never know (at least the USN and USMC still has it right)
