What are your thoughts on the new Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+? Let me know in the comments!

How does the B+ serve as a media center? I have the B and I'm using it as a media center. I find that my CPU is running at 89% to 92% when I'm streaming internet video, freetv. This casuses a system lock up sometimes. It takes awhile to regain control. Do you think the B+ would help?

Thanks

Am I correct in understanding that the USB and LAN share the same USB bus, the event though the LAN will do 300Mb/s if it needs to serve that data from USB attached storage, it would only be able to serve 150Mb/s, meaning its only a 50% improvement?

I've never used the 5GHz on my router at home so I guess this will give me a reason to try it out.

Some thoughts: Upton warned of the increased Z-height of the metal on the CPU so some cases won't work with it (Flirc?). That might be worth mentioning. Also, I think I saw the PoE hat somewhere online, so I think it's just not for sale yet? Or is it still in development?

This is all good improvements but why no USB 3?

Wish they would make a like 50-60 dollar model with better cpu/gpu/ram etc. I know there are other boards with more specs but no one really develops for them. Theres tons of support for the Raspberry Pi stuff.

Great overview ☺️ Is it safe to assume we can use our existing power supplies and cases with this new board?

The improvements are all great. But we are still missing USB 3.0, or some other way to connect high bandwidth peripherals. For example if you want to make a router or a NAS. For me, either I don't need the extra performance and cost of an Raspberry Pi, and I will just buy an Orange Pi Zero (with a better OS). Or I need more performance than what the Raspberry Pi can deliver (especially bandwidth), and I will buy something else.

Still no 2GB of RAM. (Even ASUS learned that mistake.)

Sweet! Time get excited, buy another Pi and then never find any consistent use for it outside of learning/messing around in Linux. <3

So if its's the same graphics chip I assume 4K Play-back isn't possible yet.

Same RAM, same graphic chip... nothing new for emulation purposes.
