This unit addresses most of the issues I’ve had with past preamps sold on AliExpress including a method for turning on an amplifier without needing an additional switch. It’s a quality piece of kit, and well worth the $20 or so dollars I paid for it.

Pc mode lets the unit act as an external usb soundcard. So you can play audio directly from your pc or Mac to this unit.

The USB connection is typically to connect to a computer/pc/laptop/mac. Regardless of the OS (Windows/Mac/Linux), the computer should recognize that as USB audio output and you should be able to select that new output and play the computer's audio through it. It will probably also connect to an Android (and maybe an iPhone/iOS) phone/tablet by USB as well, and the phone will also see it as an audio output. This preamp acts as a DAC with digital audio sent to it via the USB connection.

I bought one to use in my shop and am pretty impressed so far. Someone needs to come up with a little 3D printable case for it, should be pretty easy for a mechanically inclined guy (which I'm not). 🙂

Interesting product for sure. Wish it had radio mode as well and a way to turn off that spectrum analyzer, it's a bit too much for my eyes.

Is John's unit and yours bought from the same Ali seller at the same time? Because I noticed that the hardware version differs, maybe that's the reason there's this EQ error.

Hm just wondering.., at the and you are standing in a place that appear to be your living room. It sounded like you got a tiled floor. So I’m not sure how I would judge the audio is good enough for the living room. But maybe that depends on how you use your living room.

My floor is wood and have a large couch and a carpet under the salon table. It definitely makes music sound more controllable.

But I play music a lot at a certain volume. Still .., not 100% satisfying. I needs some better curtains.

But I feel that floor tiles aren’t ideal.

since it has a head[phone jjack, I wonder if you would add it to you powered speaker system for your pc. Just open the whoofer, find the power connector -connect this to the power on the woofer, and plut the pc powered speakers in this units headphone One config, powers you speakers on the pc. but if you want to go outside for a picnic ( or such ) take only the powered speakers outside with extension cord and use this as a radio ( or usb/sd card reader ). Would be cool.
