A homeowner, his insurance agent, and a roofer all worked together to commit insurance fraud against, State Farm, the insurance company that the insurance agent works for!

The homeowner wanted to illegally profit from his insurance claim, and his insurance agent told him how to do and provided a roofer to supply a false invoice to send to State Farm. In this video I'll explain all the details and how they did it.

Homestead Roofing, Inc is a licensed and fully-insured roofing contractor in Colorado Springs, Colorado and serving homeowners in Colorado Springs, Fountain, Falcon, Peyton, Manitou Springs, and other surrounding communities.

The homeowner just has to send the insurance company an invoice for his labor just like an invoice for materials. He is not required to work for free. Just get a form and fill out an invoice for your labor. There is no fraud there.

My interactions with insurance taught me never do your own work, even if you are a business owner! You’re on the hook for any failure, it will look different to the insurance if you have a failure or loss on you own home as compared to your work on a customers house. If you’re a roofer or general contractor and don’t know a roofer you’d trust there’s a problem. * Best part of your story is that theft is theft...that makes rates go up for everyone. I wouldn’t work for or through shady people, if a took on a sub job, I was honest with the owner ( there’s still one job I couldn’t call out) dirty contractor, didn’t cost the homeowner just the supplier🤷🏼‍♂️

Depends on the state, but here state law says you will be paid for the labor from putting on your own roof. As for the agent being complicit, the might be a fraud hot line for that company. You can call the state insurance camision and ask. If you are trying to do your job right then you have nothing to be afraid of. This is part of what makes your rates go up.

T lock shingles are the best shingles to have during a wind storm.

Homeowners can do the repairs, all they have to do is turn in their materials receipt. The insurance company will pay the material receipt and pay the home how we the same wages as a roofer. He is still entitled to his own labor

I've been in the roofing business for 10 years. State Farm is the worst carrier IMO. Not only do they deny claims but even when they do pay out they try to underpay the market. This is my opinion after 10 years of dealing with insurance companies.

I think there I language about a licensed contractor completing the work. Not a high bar but something.

Sounds very shady and illegal. If it was a legitimate claim I do think the owner is entitled to be paid for his labor installing the roof.

What this guy is talking about is felony insurance fraud. But it is unnessary. If the homeowner truely did the work he just needs to invoice the carrier for his labor. No need to involve a crooked roofer. I'm a roofer and I know what I'm saying.
