Not fair in that video Ray Chen learned it in like an hour for a challenge Chloe learned it for a concert😊

Chloe focuses on a calm and clear tone,
Ray Chen focuses on the emotional and aggressive playing so both have a distinct style. I love them both

Ray sounds like he's sightreading it. So the two are not comparable.

No way yall are comparing Chloe, who practiced this Paganini for a live concert, with Ray learning it for the first time in an hour? Shame on you for posting something so easily misinterpreted without context.

Anyone who plays the violin knows this piece is hard.

They both nailed it, in their very own style.

Ray literally sight-reading the song and being almost as good as Chloe's version who was already practicing for a concert is wild af 🔥😂

Ok so ray chen tried to learn this piece/cadenza in 1 hour. Whereas chloe had properly learnt this piece. Its not a fair comparison at all and I suspect you know that.

She obviously has practiced it longer. He was sight reading very well. I love the warmth of her violin's tone. I am a violinist here

Chloe focuses on notes and Ray Chen focuses on harmonics. Chloe practices talent for life time and Ray practices in readiness for the Orchestra.

If ray prepares, ray would sound so much better. However chloe might sound even better when she hits rays's age..

Chloe is a fantastic oncoming top of top violinist. Ray belongs by the top since 2009. I never exactly like to compare, it's not fair to whomever. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, music is in the ear and emotions of the

Yeah weird comparison to make. All sorts of apples and oranges, you just can't compare them. Ray has years of training and experience on Chloe, he's been playing professionally full time for like 15 years, but he is clearly sight-reading or learning the piece at the time of recording. Chloe has only really been "professional" this year, playing with SSO and recording albums (and only part time, she has also been in her final year of high school), but she's obviously been learning the piece for some time, and is playing from memory.
Neither of them are actually performing either, she's in the middle of teaching the piece (however briefly) so she's exaggerating technique. He's doing something like a 1m10m1h challenge for a video so he's just trying to hit notes.

As a violinist learning sheet music, they are insanely impressive!

He was learning on the spot and she mastered it for a concert. The quality of the acoustics in the different spaces made a pretty big difference also.

Ray Chen learned it in 1 hour on the spot

Who am I to declare which is better? All I can say is that my ears preferred Chloe's version.

There is no comparison. They both are world class and have their own distinct styles
