Nikon waiting for most of their customers to jump ship before coming out with the z6iii and z7iii? People are getting tired of waiting when other great cameras are out there.

I was going to get a Z6II before the Z9 came out. I decided to wait for the Z6III as I expect some of the tech to bleed down; a Z6III will be more future proof. I'll be really disappointed if it's not out this year. It really wouldn't make sense from my perspective.

Why not a D500 replacement or a full frame rangefinder?

NIKON Z7II IS MY FAVORITE CAMERA WITH A 45.7MP LOW 64 ISO, lighter weight then the Z9 and D850 and I am very surprised with the video capabilities. If you save your recordings to the SD card I have no overheating. I do get overheating when I record video to the CFExpress Card especially living in the San Antonio Area when Easter arrives so does Summer heat. Happy Easter Grays!

Nikon absolutely have to get the z6 iii out ASAP. They will be left soon with just a few people shooting high end gear for sports and wildlife on z9 while everyone else jumps ship to Sony and Canon.

What could be improved on a Z6II and Z7II is the focus system - compared to other brands they are not very good. But the quality of the files when the focus hits the mark, are second to none.

Nikon zf would be awesome also the z6iii with a close z9 focus system 💯

I hate to be that guy, but as a wedding photographer, no Z6iii this year will likely see me switch to another brand. It sucks as a Nikon fanboy, but there are just better tools out there from other brands.

I never miss your reports, always full of good humor.
I switched to Nikon last year, and have had my Z6II for a year now. I'm happy with the camera and haven't looked back.
But it's true that, like many, I'm waiting for firmware improvements that might put some of those Z9 features in. We've seen other cameras get a lot of improvements while the Z6II/Z7II stayed basically the same. I think there is room to improve these cameras with the hardware they have now.
I agree that a good April fool would have been the announcement of a new firmware for these cameras. We have to take this situation with humor.
In any case I follow with great interest the news and rumors about the future Z8 or Z6III, hopefully the price will be affordable and they will be a good improvement in performance.

I sold my Z7II for a $1, 000 loss last year, got an A7C, some Tamron f2.8 zooms, and am much happier with noticeably higher hit rates. I had been adapting a few e-mount lenses to my Z7II and Z50 anyway. Sony is a better system for shooting just about everything, and I don't have to deal with 13+ AF modes. Not to mention Sony's recent AI/learning subject tracking. Which would let you track a certain dog in a pack, a bird in a flock, or other specific subject. That is pretty exciting. I'll be trying out the R8 too.

If the Z8 is 61mp I am not interested. My hit rate is up and I do spend more time color correcting, but I now have that mostly automated with presets. Nikon hasn't trickled down a single feature from the Z9 to the II's. They could at least offer II users some firmware updates. Button customization is very limiting compared to Canon and Sony. Nikon doesn't offer a single FX body with an articulating screen, and I highly doubt the ZIII's will.

I have some Nikon glass on hand just in case they release something interesting, and I hope I'm wrong! I'd really like a A7IV spec'd Nikon, but with CFE-B support, and a stacked sensor for around $3k.

19:45 I would buy a Hello Kitty or Mr. Resetti special edition camera, has to be the size of an Olympus (OMSystem) OM-5 however.

I hope if they release a ZF, they release some lenses with aperture rings. Also, Nikon should make sure it has a joystick. However, Nikon needs an update for the Z6 line to keep pace with Canon, Sony and now the Panasonic Lumix S5 series.

Happy Birthday, one year and counting, Nikon 800mm f6.3 pf ed.
On the bright side, it should, SHOULD come with the latest firmware update.
Good job Nikon, really good job for staying true to your performance record of 12 month waits.

Cameras-wise, my brain wants a Z6III, like stat, but my heart wants that Zf!

Nikon needs autofocus upgrade… i miss so many shots if the subject is moving a bit too quick or if the scene is dark while the canon cameras see in pitch black

The Z6ii and Z7ii remain fantastic camaras. If Nikon can do one more firmware update on focus and customisation it will put an extra year to it's "life" but it needs to see a price reduction.

I like the rumour that the second camera to be announced will be an alternative version of the Z8. So two different versions of the Z8 one at 24mp and one at 61mp to be announced

Good question. Z8 sound very useful stills and video wise useful 20mins+

I really don't want the Zf to be based on the Z6II or Z7II...those cameras will be about three years old when this rumor says the Zf would be coming out and the idea of buying a new camera with three year old tech inside it (plus the Z6ii wasn't some bleeding edge leap from the Z6 anyway) when other companies like Sony, Canon, and Lumix have already updated their mid range FF cameras in the past year? That would be really disappointing after waiting all of this time. I think the Z9 is a phenomenal camera, but it's far too much camera for me in terms of price, size, and horsepower - I don't need quite *all* of that in my daily carry - which is what I would use the Z6iii or Zf as.
Give us a Z6iii with new AF, updated video specs, a new sensor (24-32MP), faster processing, etc. and let the Zf be based on that. The Zf is a great concept, but it's not just about nostalgia. I want a camera that is capable, stylish, and very well made.
I adore the look of a Nikon F3 as much as anyone, and a new digital camera in the look of one would be amazing but...the Nikon F3 is legendary because it's a phenomenally well made and capable camera. It would be a shame Nikon's new digital recreation of it would be a lackluster piece of hardware. Let's all hope they don't make such a decision. The Z9 proved Nikon can still provide us with a camera that is extremely well made and super capable, I hope that ethos leads into their upcoming hardware.
