I Bought a 2024 Mustang GT & It Broke Immediately

Today I set out to buy a 2024 Mustang GT! Immediately after driving it off the lot I started to experience some issues... I thought not much of it and put it away for the night. The next morning, I went out to drive it again but it only got worse. Now the Mustang is back in the dealerships hands and I'm not sure what will happen.

Why would you even think about taking it apart yourself? It has 80 miles on it. Hold them accountable. The minute you take it apart it’s your problem

Less than 100 miles on the car & he's redlining the engine...brilliant.

I don't care what the owners manual says, I would never red line a new engine

Pulls out again, immediately the same issue...doesn’t turn around and go back to the dealership he just left.

Dude, if it did the same damn thing as you left the dealer, immediately turn around and go back to the dealer. Why even mess with going to your shop? If the schedule is important, stop burning time trying to diag the issues yourself...

I know it's new, but "check engine" doesn't mean take it up to redline. It means STOP, CHECK ENGINE. Take it to the dealer

Ford technician here, just had one of these in the shop and had to replace all four VCT phasers, causing the misfires and both timing tensioners were shot, car had 500 miles. might help! check engine light would only come on when car was hot and VCT's were trying to compensate for nothing because they were faulty. If you bring it up to the dealer you should ask them to check all of your VCT PID's while driving.

From the manual. “Your vehicle requires a break-in period. For the first 1, 000 mi (1, 600 km), avoid driving at high speeds, heavy braking, aggressive shifting or using your vehicle to tow. During this time, your vehicle may exhibit some unusual driving characteristics."

Definitely redline it when the check engine light is blinking lol

So yeah, when you think you are in limp mode it's always good to run it up to redline just to make sure. You can't make this stuff up.

You are very knowledgeable when it come to cars and the fact that you didnt immediately take this thing back to the dealership befuddles me. On top of that flooring it while it's having issues is just crazy to me.

So the car is obviously having problems and I'm sure flooring a brand new car and redlining it it's really going to help its case.

Can’t wait for ford to say ohhh there was a break in period on the motor so no redline… you redlined it soooo no warranty 😂

What I don’t understand is if you know, the car is broken. Why do you keep trying to drive it hard thinking that it’s gonna fix it

Fords shut off the AC when you floor it into what we used to call passing gear. AC uses a bunch of horse power so Ford shuts it off to give you full power when you pull out to go around someone. You can almost call it a safety feature. It's been like that for 40 years on any Ford I've owned and worked that way on my Mustangs. Automatic or manual. So yes, it blows warm for a few seconds until you let off on the gas.

typically, A/C clutch is disengaged at WOT to help with horsepower

Not me yelling at the screen telling you not to touch it and just take it back! Not your problem to fix being a BRAND NEW car.

That's why I only buy cars made in Japan, because now day's American manufacturers aren't doing a good job, they show no team work.
