The Post office is in the Constitution . It has a mandate to deliver newspapers for free.
The idea was to have an informed constituency.

0:18 No I don't remember people saying "You can always get work at the post office". Up until recently, it was always a highly desired job that got hundreds of applications per opening.
"You can always join the military" has always been what a lot of people say for a last resort option. (Death, MIA, POW, PTSD, loss of limbs, etc.)

Actually postal workers can accept cookies as long as they know the source. I can’t remember exactly but I know there is a rule about limiting how much the cost of the gift can be. I know carriers have received bottles of wine from people on their routes over the years during Christmas time. Generally the post offices stance on this tradition is to discourage it. Simply a don’t feed our animals approach. 😊

My sis is a postal employee .. listen to Leslie . Take the cookies .. especially now ! There is a big time shortage of employees and the ones there are working hard long hours to make sure your stuff gets there for Christmas .. they will be happy you thought of them !

I worked the Post Office too, right after college. I was a clerk in a station for almost 5 years. My bf worked there for 35 years.
