I am a 70 year old Veteran that was drafted and honorably served my Country in the Vietnam era. I lost many friends back then fighting for the United States Constitution and freedom like so many other Veterans have and by the way I am gay. 15 to 20% of the Veterans like in the general population are gay.
For people like the ones in Mississippi to want to take my rights away and deny me basic human dignity doesn't just make me sad, it angers me. The laws enacted could be used to victimize anyone as being gay just because they perceive them as being so. I fought for their rights to believe the way they want to and would gladly do it again but, that doesn't include the right to discriminate and force their views upon me. They are not God and to force their religion on me is not right. I did not chose to be this way, I was born this way.
It is the bigoted views of people like these whom have the blood of their own countries children on their hands since they are the ones that create an intolerable living situation for their LGBT children. LGBT children have the highest rate of suicide in communities like yours and that is not their fault it is yours.
