Fwiw, I agree, this is the first san martin I actually feel tempted to buy. And it's exciting to see their famous finishing and value come together with an attractive and fresh non-copycat design.

Its weird to me how a Timex Pepsi GMT, that even has Mercedes hands (clearly “copying” rolex), gets feature in videos as an excellent budget watch. But if a Chinese brand does it, it immediately gets shamed to infinity, and labeled as not worthy for true watch enthusiasts.

Clearly there is a narrative against Chinese watches.

I agree with your review of the watch, but not about the "finally" aspect. San Martin has several original designs, or original enough, many of which predate this watch. For example, SN0118 is a similar series to what you've shown above with funky colors, but a slightly different case format and different colorways. SN0130 is interesting, to say the least.Then of course, there is SN085-B with the funky bezel grips. I really like that orange bezel version of that one.

I bought this one as well as a summer piece and also like it. The dial has a nice texture and subtle sparkle in the sun that says beach time for me. The color matched date wheel, on-the-fly clasp, and 7-link BOR bracelet make the watch seem more premium than its price.

Thanks for reviewing this. This avocado is on my want list, especially on that BOR bracelet. I recently got my first 2 SM pieces (aventurine dial and orange strapped teal blue dial with orange bezel) and both are pretty impressive for the price. Thanks again.

Very similar to a old doxa but updated and very readable hopefully the lume lasts and the clasp if it works well is the cherry on top

Confirmation bias is a real thing. It seems like the major complaint for a lot of Aliexpress brands is the bracelet. Are they easier to replace? Maybe it's worth swapping them out on San Martins and Addiesdives.

SM have had several original designs, this is deff not the first but might be their best imo.
The most annoying thing for me is using a date movement with a no date dial, maybe thats just me.

Overall, very well made watches and this design is moving in the right direction but i have yet to find a SM watch i would like to own. Theres always something thats just not for me personally. Could be design, choice of movement, color, size etc..
Chinese brands like SM or Sugees/Seestern should try more original designs. Dont forget that most microbrands started with a homage or even a clomage and these chinese brands make most money of these kinds of watches so dont shame them for providing what customers are asking for.

More respect to chinese watchmakers!
