tbh it's not that terribly expensive when you consider it's a big ass leg

I mean it is expensive, just not disgustingly expensive like some salt bae shit

In Spain it's about 100-200, you probably got a slightly better quality, but at its core it's the same

My aunt and uncle had one of those. My uncle kept saying that “we couldn’t eat it because it needed to be for a special occasion” weeks pass, months pass, and he still said “no we’re not going to open it!” Even though me, my mom and my aunt wanted to eat it. YEARS PASS of us asking to open it and its still there on the table by the corner as a souvineer, I think fuck it and say to him that its probably already expired because he’s an asshole. He starts screaming at me and saying of course it isint expired! Im just an idiot child. We check the package, it had been expired for 3 years. And it went to the garbage. What a fucking waste of good meat

I’m from Spain, and as a child my father worked with these types of ham. Every year he would bring one home and let the whole family eat, it’s the best thing I’ve ever tasted.

"Is it actually worth it?"
As a Spaniard, yes, yes it is worth it.

I absolutely love seeing foreign people try our stuff, and specially our Jamón. We're very proud of it and I appreciate the fact that you love it so much!. If you pour some of our olive oil (picual variety is the best, it has an intense flavor) on top of a good bread, best if it's right out of the oven and put the jamón on top of it plus another drizzle of oil, you'll be amazed :D

i've had it one time in my entire life. and it's actually one of the most delicious things i've ever eaten. i don't have a lot of money so i don't eat very high end or complicated meals. but that was an experience i'd do anything to relive

Im spanish and its great to see content creators spread my culture so other people can learn about it!!! Its like a tradition here in spain, here everyone has a "jamón" leg in their kitchen to eat as a snack or to cook. In Spain they say that the "jamón ibérico" is the best one, but you dont need to get it for such an expensive price, in fact most people buy it at a supermarket and the most expensive one are like 300€ in a normal supermarket, the ones everyone buys are usually 30-100€ (can be more expensive depending on the ocasion) more or less and we all love it!!!

Yeah this is bussin. I actually ate half a leg from my uncle in a family party when I was 11. Everybody was on the table and I was just cutting big chunks off of it in the kitchen, big house. He got mad af

As a Spaniard... It is absolutely worth it. Every single time. I would die without jamón ibérico and jamón de bellota

When I went to Spain the cured meat was absolutely delicious. It’s unfortunate that it costs so much to get good cured meat in the US but it’s definitely one of the best parts of going to Spain :)

It also comes from certain parts of Portugal. Ibérico stands for the Peninsula Ibérica wich is a region where both Portugal and Spain are located. But it's more popular in the Spanish side because they produce more, because they are a bigger country. But you can totally grow the black pig with the bolotas in Portugal, and it happens.
