I love this knife sharpener. I just watched as a reminder because I haven’t had to use it in a while. Super cheap and works.

I screwed up and accidentally dulled my balisong, and I got this and it made the blade sharp as ever. Pops hairs and can cut a phone book page with ease

I would suggest to start with the 20 degrees and stick with it. Then if you wish, make a final run at 25 degrees to get a more robust tip. If you start with 25 on the grey sticks, then 20, you won't reach the tip with the white sticks. Draw a diagram on paper and you will see what I mean.

This knife sharpener 100% works as Mr. Yaylor demonstrates, I purchased the Lansky system, roughly followed Mr. Yaylor's instructions and I literally had a knife sharp enough to shave with in about 3 minutes. This is the only knife sharpening system, aside from the classic whetstone and honing stone, that I have found to put a truly razor-sharp and durable edge on a blade.

I love this box! been using mine for over 2 years on my entire collection of around 60 knives and it is still going strong. I recieved the ken onion electric sharpening system for christmas, $200 ish with all attachments, I am SUPER frustrated with it, and have gone back to the LANSKY box lol

I'm a good knife sharpener and I really dismissed this gadget until my father bought me one and now I am a believer. It is surprisingly fun to use and works really well. Doesn't take too much metal off, which is exactly what you want and you don't have to mess about with liquid on the stones, just rotate them a little and then clean off with a pencil eraser. This and a small Diamond Hone if you want to reap profile your blade edge and you are set. Also you can actually choose your own edge angle if you are skilful. The only caveat is not good for a Scandi grind, you're missing all the advantages of that flat bevel by not using a Flatstone.

Got one of these myself plus goodness knows how many Warthog green compound lapping pads (strop blocks) to finish. Absolutely fantastic system for getting your knives sharp 'on the cheap'. For re-curve blades it's actually better than the Sharpmaker..!!! P.S. Baby wipes are good at keeping the rods clean for extended use...

Thanks for the review. I think I will get one. Note: I would stick with the same angle on both, but if you want to make a super fine hone use 20 degrees first then finish with the 25 degrees. You did it reverse.

Excellent Mark. I've ordered it. I too have spent decades trying to find a system I'm happy with.

I have the Lansky hones, but this looks much more practical. Thanks for making the effort to put it up for all of us.

Your model is LCD5D.
The white stick is ceramic. (Fine grit)
The black stick is also ceramic, not diamond. (Medium grit)
The diamond model is 2D2C.

so you start on the 25° and move over to the 20°? Why? The whole point is to use them for different grinds. 40° for slicers and 50° for choppers.

The only reason to use both is to re profile your first edge (20°) and then bevel your cutting edge (25°). So not only are you doing it incorrectly but you're doing it in reverse order! Shit man, draw out the geometry on paper if you can't understand angles.

also Lansky makes an eraser block for cleaning those. It works fairly well.

I just did it. My dull knife is sharp! Now I can have it and never use it same as always... at least it's sharp though.
