1. Clean one side.
2. Switch the sides
3. Let clean side absorb all dirt from platter

This is fine for vinyl already in good condition. For the dollar bin finds, don’t be afraid to use soapy hot water (Dawn) and a soft cloth. It can take a good scrubbing going with the grooves. Vinyl is plastic! Run under clean water to rinse, avoiding the paper inner label. Dry with soft cloth in the direction of the grooves. Then crank it up!

Brushing from outside-in just leaves a lot of dust on my records. The groove alignment light helps a lot at identifying dust on the record IMO.

Talked to my local records dealer the other after picking up a new micro brush. He said to clean from the inside-out.

My stupid ass sprayed it on the actual vinyl

I think it should be starting dry with the anti static brush first. It will comb and bring out dust in the groves. Then step 2 would be to use the velvet brush on a flat anti static cloth surface. You can favor the record slightly over the edge of a table all the dust will fall to the ground, not transfer to the other side. Flip and repeat. I think using spray first is a mistake that will just make mud that will lodge itself into your grooves. Dry brush first, then damp velvet after.

In the 80's in records stores or supermarkets used to sell a liquid AND a soft fabric or a brush to clean records

You just described exactly what I do with any new record I put on my turntable to play! 🙏

I have been using water and soap (neutral detergent) for ages now, and it works really well. The only problem is that you have to be pretty careful not to get the label wet. Not that it peels off or anything, but it loses it’s smoothness and becomes rougher to the touch, and, as a perfectionist, that annoys me a lot. Over time, though, you get pretty good at it!

No, no, no. You have to clean from the inside out. 😉

Ah, that's the old school way. Cecil E. Watts used to sell a 2in1 product called Parastat, with the two brushes that you're using in the video and a special cleaning solution to go with it.

Hi recommend to use a microfiber cloth to dry the disk way faster before the cleaning. And then use the carbon fiber brush, because you need a dry record to use that brush

I use the same turntable i.e. audio-technica AT LP120USB but black colour. I clean vinyl with audio-technica vinyl cleaning liquid and antistatic brush.

I've seen a dozen different ways to clean records. Tough to sort out I finally went with gentle cleaning solution I spray on vinyl and use a microfiber cloth to wipe off. One question I have is does the platter ever need cleaning and if so what's best way?

so this is the right way: first use the antistatic brush from inside to outside to remove all loose dust and dirt. then use the wooden brush he uses. spray the cleaning solution on the brush, not on the record. inside out aswell. just do this. every once in a while i like to clean all my records on a rotating arm with spacers in between in a ultrasonic bath at 30-40c dont go over 50 cause at 60 vinyl warps. use distilled water, dont use any other solution cause it might damage vinyl. most people dont have access to this equipment but sometimes you can bring them to a records store to let them do it

Usually I use sticky roller for cleaning, it is more better than brush

First I put my vinyl in the sink and then spray water on it, then I use some steel wool to clean out the grooves to make it nice and smooth
