The left-wing of Endeavor Air Flight 4814 (a regional carrier of Delta) struck the runway at LaGuardia Airport in New York while the pilot was executing a go-around due to an unstable approach. The METAR depicted a crosswind of 22 knots, gusting up to 36 knots. The incident occurred around 10:10 p.m. local time on Sunday, March 16.

(Disclaimer: This is an estimated recreation of the incident based on data from available resources, featuring real ATC audio, and was created using Microsoft Flight Simulator. There might be slight differences in terms of time, aircraft position and other variables and it DOES NOT represent the exact happenings of the incident)

This isn’t the first incident of endeavour CJR’s 700/ 900, Feb 18 in TO, wing tip touched in gusts . Very little room for error with wings closer to the ground in gusts .

The FO is the woman. She was the pilot flying on the landing and lost control of the plane causing it to scrape a wing. The Captain then took control of the plane which then did a Go Around.

I think it happened due to the wind. It was an unforeseeable incident.

Same carrier and model plane that crashed in Toronto. This pilot handled the gust better!

The wind has been off the charts these past few weeks….

Everyone saying DEI please go and actually look at what pilots go through to get their wings. There are no reduced requirements for anybody when it comes to commercial pilots

Not a job you want to learn when your plane is filled with innocent passengers.

90% it was the female who was flying the aircraft to land. Reasons being:

(1) one pilot must fly and one pilot backs up with communications, declaring emergency, checking traffic, looking at maps, etc. etc. etc.
(2) the male pilot declares "I got it I have it I have the aircraft" meaning he JUST took over the controls from the female pilot who had her hands on the controls. Also, it was the male pilot who was talking on the coms before the aircraft hit the runway, then the female pilot starts talking when the aircraft is back in the air.

DELTA is never going to release small details and be like "yeah, it was A piloting to land, and B took over" unless this ended up as a tragedy. From the facts above that I stated, everything clicks.

Impressive video rendering. I knew the sparks were fake but I thought everything else was real.

The female was the pilot flying on the first attemp with the wing strike. The captain took the controls and went around. Apparently, they didn't know yet that they had a wing strike, the CA took control because she clearly didn't have the situation under control.

Another unmanned landing but this time the aircraft remained upright.

Rough crosswind (as also evidenced by the windsock). She did the right thing on the go-around. Bounces NEVER end well on a continued approach.

great recreation but you have no idea of the sequence of events, i.e., at what point the wingtip struck the ground.

Who was flying? First the pilot had a male voice, and then a female voice. Only one of them could have been pilot.

YOU HAVE THIS INCORRECTLY TITLED! This is NOT a Delta flight. It is an Endeavor flight, and the pilots are NOT trained by Delta. Change the title, please.
