INGREDIENTS
2 slices of white bread
2 to 2 1/2 Tbsp softened butter
2 slices of processed American cheese
2 slices of sourdough bread
2 slices of Vermont sharp cheddar cheese
2 slices of smoked gouda cheese
pickled jalapeños (optional)
3 Tbsp softened butter

Growing up I made these sandwiches for my little brothers because of course they were my specialty 👩🏽‍🍳!! I would use 2 slices of kraft singles, a slice of deli ham on white Bimbo bread and of course country crock 🤷🏽‍♀️. I haven’t made this in a long time but I’m sure I’ll be making one soon 😋!! My wife loved basic grilled cheese sandwiches, but never cared much for tuna. I like grilled tuna on seaside sourdough bread with cheddar cheese in the middle.
Seeing you make this basic sandwich is a nice way to remember my Linda. I will make one today with celery soup for lunch. Thanks for the memory.

Heck yeah CAST IRON!! I cook only on cast iron and nothing’s better than a toasted sandwich in cast iron ❤️ love your videos!
I’ve recently changed from electric stove to propane and found EVERYTHING is cooked at a lower temp. I cook my sandwiches on 2 (low) otherwise they burn and the cheese doesn’t melt. Just me 😊

I also made one today.
I made it much like the first one except that I first fried an egg (I half-scrambled it and used a silicone ring mold to keep its shape) to put into the grilled cheese. I also used a small amount of shredded cheddar along with the 2 slices of processed cheese. It comes out like an amazing breakfast sandwich.

Thanks for doing a basic grilled cheese. Im learning to cook for myself. Love grilled cheese but have never made one. My wife died before i ever learned her tricks to it. This was just like hers and i got to use my beloved cast iron skillet. Thank you from all of us just starting out!

This is what I was looking for, I watched like 3-4 videos before this one and this is what I wanted. Basic instructions for a basic GC sandwich. I watched a video where the guy was explaining how to make the cheese! It was like a science experiment lmao Thanks for the upload!
