I still think you should run these challenges with a printing pod mod that disables dupes and only offers resources. While it might be a tiny bit easier that way, it is also more interesting, as you have a better chance to last till cycle 75.

I was trying this with 25 dupes and it was going amazing until cycle 40 when Max got pissed off and punched a wall.


That wall happened to be the wall to the infinite CO2 containment cube, releasing a kiloton of CO2 into the base and rapidly outpressurizing the vents and oxygen production machines, i couldnt dig fast enough to diffuse the CO2 and EVERYONE DIED

Here's a couple of suggestions. Duplicate time efficiency, food and oxygen are your three priorities. Put in a power spine and put all the hamster wheels together. This will reduce travel time. Put only the minimum number of hamster wheels on the power grid to keep up with consumed energy. This will keep the duplicants on the wheel all day and reduce more travel time and use less dupes. Get hydroponic tiles down right away and plumbed in. Any new seeds can be planted into those. Get into ranching next because 249 bog buckets would be needed to keep dupes alive otherwise. Ranch everything and anything. You also need 10 grills to cook all the bog buckets. Only 6 micro mushers are needed to feed all the dupes. I've taken into account that 1/4 of the population might consume more calories.

Your series make me want to re-download this absolutely amazing game. I've been playing since just about the beginning of when ONI came out, and it just gets better every year.

For food with the goal of 75 cycles I'd try to start an automated pacu farm. Dupes can start with mechatronics engineering so if you gun for the research you could reasonably set up multiple pacu breeders that start their free food output by cycle 30. 15 breeders would provide 10 pacu every cycle. You'd need about 1k pacu to feed your dupes entirely off of free cooked seafood so with 15 breeders you'd have 1% of all future food needs per cycle. Just remember that it takes about 20 cycles for a pacu egg to hatch and die of starvation so each breeder will take 20 cycles to start producing its food.

Hey there Echs, if you really need food for the 75 dupes, spindly grubfruit (or tended grubfruit if possible, better morale AND the food dropped by the plant at harvest is wayyy more than spindly) is the solution. All you need now is a pip, which sadly I don't think you can get one fast enough. Luma experimented with other x dupes/x cycle challenges, and pretty much all of them over 50 resulted in deaths after 30-40 cycles

One other thing that this challenge requires - minimizing the height of the rooms. Meaning only 2 and 3 tile high rooms. This saves dupe travel time a bit, which for this challenge snowballs quite quickly.

I don't know if it's still a thing but dupes used to breath less o2 when they had to hold their breath. I haven't played in a few months but I used to use it to my advantage.
