Sweet ride !
Dad bought one in 66 right out of the Army.
Midnight Blue with light blue interior.
289, automatic .
It came through with a factory four barrel even though he ordered a 2 barrel..
Zippy little ride ..
I was a kid in the backseat sliding around !
When Mom “ cowboyed” around the corners ! Haha
Dad always regretted selling it ! 🤘🏼🥃

A small point, it's not a "sedan, " it's a two-door hardtop. Usually called a Notchback as opposed to the Fastback (which isn't actually a true fastback). A true fastback roof ends at the rear edge of the body.

We should mention that Chrysler quickly modified the Plymouth Valiant to compete in the Mustang segment, which came to be known as "pony cars", when they got wind of the Mustang project (industrial espionage?). The Plymouth Barracuda was actually launched April 1, 1964 while Ford's Mustang was introduced at the World's Fair in NY on April 17, 1964 and was a sales sensation. Ford expected sales of about 100, 000 and sold over 400, 000. The Barracuda sold less than 100, 000, but there was a Hemi in its future.
The first "muscle car", the 1964 GTO, was introduced on October 1, 1963, made possible in spite of a GM limiting engine sizes to 10 lbs. of vehicle weight per cubic inch - 330 c.i. for the Tempest. Treating this as a standard production limit, the GTO package, including the 389 c.i. V8, was offered as an "option". A golden age was born.

Not sure I'd ever call a first-gen coupe a five seater car!

Looks nice, except for the hideous tires.

That car will make some girl very happy. As Jessy James said, no man should drive a first Gen Mustang
