How to Determine Whether Three Points are the Vertices of a Right Triangle

In this lesson, we learn how to use our distance formula, to determine if three points are the vertices of a right triangle. We can accomplish this by finding the distance between each pair of points given. Once we know each distance, we can match this up with our Pythagorean formula. If the three points are the vertex of a right triangle, then it will be true that the square of the largest distance or hypotenuse is equal to the sum of each other distance squared. This follows our a^2 + b^2 = c^2 from the Pythagorean formula.

Thank you for showing multiple examples. I failed to realize that A squared + B squared = C squared. I couldn't figure out how the points even though they weren't the same created a vertices. thanks once again
