Keep your seatbelt on even if the seatbelt light is off. That's the most important pro-tip I've learned over a lifetime of flying.

As a kid I flew Lufthansa into Munich in a snowstorm when the landing was applauded. I didn't even realize, thank goodness, what skill that took.

Well I hope that wasn’t anyone’s 1st flight.

I have worked in the Aerospace industry for 20-plus years and have seen bad things/fatal accidents happen from cutting corners and trying to save time/money. The industry needs to slow down and focus on safety before something very bad happens if they are trying to save time and money by increasing speed from point-to-point traveling.

Imagine you're in the toilet having the worst diarrhea ever and this happens?.

Those pilots were heroes for getting the plane to land safely. 👏🏻

OMG 😳! Even slight turbulence gets my heart beating ten times faster! I surely would have blacked out, had I been on this flight!

Wow that is like one of my worst nightmares other than being left in the ocean alone😲

It’s soo crazy when seeing and hearing stories like these cause I’ve personally flown a huge amount of times and have never experienced anything like the turbulence stories I’ve heard.

Flying the aircraft professionally seems more important than rushing to your destination

Not one commercial jet has come down due to turbulence in 40 years! Belt up and protect your head. Planes use sky roadways, some rough, some smooth. Just like you in your Car. Do you panic when the car hit a few bumps? No, because your car is designed for it. Planes are *_really_* designed for it with so much redundancy its crazy. I've been in severe turbulence and it sucks but you are more likely to get hit by flying debris then ever ever ever the plane will come down. Never nice to see anyone hurt. This particular flight was obviously horrific and I hope everyone recovers. Kudos to the crew for doing a great job of getting everyone down safe as possible.

I was once asleep during a flight. I heard screaming and felt like I was on a rollercoaster. However, I remained asleep. It was only later when I asked if something happened on the flight that I realized we had been through severe turbulence.

I always get bloody nervous whenever even a small amount of turbulence is happening, this would've totally destroy me if I was there. But at the same I'm glad to see that even this amount of turbulence was not enough to do major damage to the plane, and despite that some of them got injured, they are still alive.

I have been travelling since 1979 and noticed recently that these turbulences are becoming more often. Last October, we flew Melbourne to Darwin. we had terrible turbulence nonstop, and my heart stayed up to 130. I always wear fitbit watch due to my AF. My heart rate didn’t come back to normal, even though I took a pill to calm down my heart. The anxiety 😫 we returned back by The Ghan train crossing Simpson desert. It took four days and cost us $7000. My lifetime dream retirement trip, I stopped flying these days. My anxiety and heartbea too much to handle.

Aircraft Manufactures have a recommended Turbulence Penetration Speed and that is what we pilots target when we get into severe turbulence. It is usually slower than the recommended cruise speed for that particular flight.

Flew from pittsburg to latrobe one night on a small commercial airplane. flew through an extreme thunderstorm. the plane was violently pitching up and down and rolling left and right for over 20 minutes. I thought I would die on that flight. when I got to my hotel room I turned on the local news. top story was a tornado sighted between Pittsburgh and latrobe.

1970: Without warning the jet dropped vertically that seemed to be 20 feet, but was likely 200 feet, accompanied by severe vibration of the cabin. A moment later, that happened again, but this time the vibration was so severe you could see the walls rippling. I thought the jet was going to disintegrate. The pilot announced that the plane had encountered an air pocket.

This happened to me. Haven’t flown since. 👍🏻

We need to limit the number of flights so pilots are not pressured to go too fast.

This is why you never unbuckle your seatbelt.
