Boris Johnson survives no-confidence ballot with 148 Tory MPs voting against him

Boris Johnson has survived an attempt by Conservative MPs to remove him from No 10, but more than one-third of his party voted against him.

The prime minister won the no-confidence vote – triggered when 54 of his MPs demanded the contest – but the margin of 211 votes to 148 is unlikely to end questions about his leadership.

The vote was triggered after Tory MPs called for the prime minister to stand down in the wake of Sue Gray’s report into breaches of the Covid-19 regulations in No 10.

Just because a bunch of wrinkly old Tories voted in favour of Bojo does not let him off the hook for anything by the public. Theres a huge chunk of them that should be getting sacked and banned from politics

🙄🙄 Not surprising at all. This is still injustice because it should be the public voting not the Parliament. The nation's votes instead of MPs votes would have been a completely different outcome

When Theresa May got 63% of the MP confidence vote, Rees-Mogg said “it’s a terrible result for the PM & she must resign”
Boris Johnson got 58% of the MP

Only 60% of his own MPs like him, that's actually atrocious polling for an internal leadership challenge

Great... Let the criminals vote whether the chief criminal should be removed. No surprise about the outcome then. All Tories need removing!

The house may agree but the country does not

So out of touch with reality, I bet the life of an average pleb doesn't even factor into their day.

This is ridiculous.

We live in a current state of affairs where people can't survive due to the extra financial stresses that could be so easily alleviated by our corrupt government. Rishi and Boris are the worst thing that's ever happened to the UK.

Give the country (us the people) the vote of confidence in him, how is this acceptable? Law breakers in charge, a murderer… disgusting

Time to come together as a Party. Thought they had enough Parties. And the banging on the benches was sickening to witness. Just goes to show how little respect they have for the People of this country.

So 60% where at the parties with him. Laughing it up. Taking the money. Making the rules.

He may have survived but the Tory party won't.
