U.K. PM Boris Johnson Survives No-Confidence Vote But Faces Uphill Battle to Stay in Power

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson survived a vote of no confidence held by members of his own Conservative Party on Monday. The 211-148 vote came just days after Johnson was booed by conservative royalists when he arrived at a service to honor the queen's 70-year reign. We speak with Priya Gopal, English professor at the University of Cambridge, who says the vote signals a division within the country's Conservatives and an opening for progressives. "This reflects a mood shift among voters who handed Johnson a huge majority at the last elections," says Gopal. She also explains how Johnson may be forced to resign if he isn't able to gain enough parliamentary support to pass legislation. #democracynow

Toff-supremacists _only_ fail upwards. What doesn't squash them, makes them bolder. BoJo isn't worried — about anything, or anyone, ever — and anybody who's optimistic enough to believe that he ever _might_ face consequences, worries _me._

The mobb rule of Omerta. I think the British people in 2 by-election will judge this rather harshly. The polls for Wakefield county as of yesterday projected 20 points ahead of conservatives and all other parties gaining as well.

Yes it's very good news for the country as it means next gen if he's still leader they are out. The people who booed him were the Tories based they are royalist.

What matters to the people of UK and the world is that Boris Johnson is going to be the first emperor of the Great English World Empire composes of UK, US, Canada and Australia. Not matter is breaking government naughty rules. The international rule is matter for the people of the world, comply to what the West has established is the most important matter.

Boris Johnson's, Prime Ministership is over. This is how the Westminster politics works. You have a vote within the party room. Dependent upon that vote, the next stage proceeds and it invariably means there will be a challenge and Johnson will be replaced sooner rather than later before the next election. Have a look what happened to Tony Abbott in Australia before his own party replaced him. Its Over for Johnson. Act 2 is about to begin.

"Celebrating the wealthy while the average British suffer..."
No different than in the US. Lovely idea to have the theme of the MET be the Gilded Age, no? (for example)
