We review our air asia flight, discuss whether there is inflight entertainment and go in depth about what it's like to fly #airasia internationally. It depends on your preference. From Sydney to Penang, the best budget economy flight would be Scoot and they do have 18.9 inch of economy seats compare to AirAsia X's 16 inch only seats. However AirAsia will win in premium cabin amenities cuz they have comfortable premium economy flatbed with free meal.

My wife and I traveled Air Asia X from Sydney to KL return last year and thought it was one of the best flights we have ever had and we travel a lot. It was our first time on Air Asia and like you had reservations. We opted for pre booked seat and food and a 20 Kg baggage allowance. It was a hell of a lot cheaper than Malaysian Air who we had traveled with twice before. The service was great as you pointed out. You missed a treat by not paying the $6 Aus for some of the best in flight economy meals you can have in the sky. Their food is amazing. We enjoyed another 6 flights with Air Asia on that trip and the internal flights are per-functionary but most are very short and very cheap ... one from Langkawi to Penang was something like $30 Aus each .... We have already made reservations again for July this year on Air Asia and, barring a Caronavirus pandemic stopping us flying, are looking forward to enjoying Air Asia again .... If you want to spend the best part of $1000 to get in flight entertainment go for it ...

Ohh this is so useful because we are planning to fly AirAsia this fall when we're going through southeast asia/oceania.. luckily we've never actually had a 'long haul flight' more than 5 hours, but this doesn't look so bad!

That air asia budget flight 😬👍, I would only use air asia for short haul - generally long flights I prefer my entertainment haha

No food or in-flight entertainment for 9 hours is pretty rough but being able to get to such a beautiful country for a good price would totally be worth it!

It's nicer than the budget airlines here in the states. They want to take out the seats and have standing only so they can fit more on the plane. Looking forward to the series.

Have been flying Airasia for years. 24 flights in the past 2 years. They canceled my flight due to Corona Virus but no refund?? Looks like I will be flying with Scoot/Jetstar in future

Little tips. Load bunch of movie into the pad or smartphone. Have a power bank standby. Then you will get through the 9hours.

Hi guys, this happened to my family last January 2020 where they are traveling from KL to Perth and the luggage was over charged by 7kg and my daughter ask the counter and the counter attendant told to my daughter the scale was right and ask them to pay the xtra. The bag was weigh before check in and my daughter try to explain to the counter attendant they ignored the explanation. Its a scam going on in KLIA 2 on the international departure flights. Be aware of all families with more bags to check in. The case still going on and no explanation till now.

Please, I urge everyone not to fly with this airline when traveling to Bali or anywhere in Asia. Prior to booking, carefully examine their reviews. On 05/09/2024, during my flight, I encountered issues with their agent attempting to charge me $200 for a bag that was 9KG overweight. After requesting to speak with a supervisor, the price suddenly dropped to $80. Upon arriving in Bali, I noticed significant damage to one of my bags, with personal items missing from the only bag secured with a TSA lock. During the inspection, they mishandled my belongings, resulting in a broken African tribal necklace. Despite contacting the airline for assistance, their response, received all the way from Australia, was dismissive, stating that wear and tear costs are not covered, holding me accountable for the damages. This experience has deeply disappointed me as it tainted my first trip to Bali.

Terrible reliability on self check in machines and massive lineups aside, I find air asia so much better than Cebu. Least this airline is actually on time, smooth flying too!

I rarely purchase anything when on a plane, choosing instead to take snacks and a meal. However, one airline I had to pay for a bottle of water after running out of my own water - I was coughing & coughing so much I thought I would be ill - the attendants would not even give me hot water. The sad thing is I forget which airline other than it being budget from Bangkok to China. Now I make sure I take a massive self fill bottle with me!

I booked 2 seats but did not pay for selection of seats since it doesnt matter where we sat. What they assigned us were separated middle seats. So basically they assign the unwanted seats to you even if you are separated from your partner. I knew they were cheap but didn't know they do not even have common decency.

Do you guys know that most of AirAsia flight attendant are from Malaysia Airlines? Especially during the MAS retrenchment in 2015, the unfortunate one joined AirAsia as well as Qatar and Emirates in that year

500 Australian dollar for 9 hour flight is really cheap .
Maybe I should start travelling around the world too .

Flew Shanghai-KL earlier this year on AirAsia, and it's less than half the price of any traditional airlines, even including the cost of baggage. Sure there's no food, no entertainment, and the seats are cramped, but when the price difference is good enough to get myself a week of decent meals in KL, I would say it's definitely worth it 😂
