Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (DFOS) has many benefits, including a fiber optic cable that is robust, immune to EMI and easy to install. The sensor is maintenance-free, and the system can detect temperature or vibration changes quickly, over thousands of points along a fiber. DFOS technology has many applications, including power cable monitoring, fire detection (tunnels, conveyor belts, storage tanks), rail monitoring, and pipeline leak detection.
