A Little Bit Diva Brí Carr feat. The Henry Girls
Показать описание
A little Bit Diva, now on Spotify and iTunes, is a song I sang on Nollaig na mBan 2020, with the The Henry Girls at our annual Wild Atlantic Women concert, just a few weeks before Lockdown and the shutdown of my dreams of releasing a follow up album to Full Circle/Rotha an tSaoil due to Covid 19 closures. The new album, Fréamhacha/Roots, arrived in November 2020, and is still in boxes in my music room, awaiting reopening of Music and concerts for us all, so I can have my launch some day. During Lockdown, The Henry Girls very kindly agreed to record the backing vocals remotely, to add to the single, it made the Recommended Playlist on RTE for two weeks in a row in November, and when the third Lockdown began in January, we were all devastated that Music would again take a back seat for the near future. So, I decided to don the gúna, curl what I could of my neglected hair, grab a fakefur coat, the wellieboots, rubber gloves and the camera, and decided to record my own music video for the craic, to lift spirits and put a smile on my friends' faces. I had the video ready for about a fortnight before I was brave enough to let it out.. what if it was cringey? what if people thought I was crazy? what if it went down like a lead balloon? ... so one day in mid-January, I was so fed up listening and reading about doom and gloom, decided I didn't actually care what the critics might say, if it cheered my close circle up, then great, that's all this diva really cared about, so I reached out to my friend Sonia from Ligid TV who had a recording of last year's performance, and with permission from Lorna and the Henry Girls, launched the video onto an unsuspecting facebook public, and was completely OVERWHELMED and humbled, as well as utterly delighted, with the massive positive response. Yes, it is cringey. Yes I was kinda crazy that day!, and no, the balloon was anything but leaden, the texts, calls, comments and sharing of it lifted not only my own spirits, but those of all my friends, and family, and now it is February, it is STILL getting airplay on national and local radio, it hits Spotify today and iTunes/all the rest this first week of Spring, and I have decided to share on youtube, so my aunt in London gets to see it too! Anyone else, if you are up for it, why don't you grab a gúna and a pair of rubber gloves, and don't knock it til you try it!!! Live, laugh, love, Brí xx
