Every news outlet makes it seem like Discord is getting banned in Russia for "extremist content". But is that the case?

What if there was a Discord feature that could stop this ban from happening? And why is Russia banning Discord? Well I'll explain why Discord is being banned in Russia (to the best of my ability) and why things may or may not be doomed from the start...

Some additional factors that lead to the ban include (according to multiple viewers):
- Russia wanting citizens to use Vkontakte (VK), a russia based social media network. People are concerned that it is used for surveillance of citizens (with some stories about video game chats being taken out of context and resulting in the FSB raiding someone's house)
- Discord's voice chat End-to-End Encryption being released and how the encryption keys aren't given to Russian authorities.

Ok, just a fun fact. After an hour or two after the block, somebody started a ddos attack on roskomnadzor. It pretty much could still be going

Fun fact: The bypass for discord ban, was found within 30 minutes after the ban.

The funniest thing is that in the russian VK (Vkontakte - russian social) there's more "bad" content than in the discord. Tbh it's already became a meme that roskomnadzor bans everything if VK has same features (such as messaging, viewing media and etc)

As a russian and as a son of a currently working deputy of a political party, I must say that these politics aren't complicated at all.
It is as simple as old people in a position of power being completely out of touch with morals and views of the current world and current growing generations.
And they want to use their standing to force their outdated and quite frankly broken mindset onto youth and country in general. In an attempt to save themselves a cozy position of power for longer.

The irony of this situation is that they like to justify a lot of their senile actions with "we're protecting children". I have 2 nephews and 1 niece, they're about to turn 10 and their "protection" has only done harm so far. When war started my nephews started seeing "western propaganda" everywhere:
1) My nephew's name is Ilya and is strictly male but the dub of anime has a female name Ilia? Propaganda
2) Character looks vaguely female but a man? Propaganda
3) Creator of a show is gay or trans? Propaganda(Digital Circus was the show in question)

It took so long to fix this awful situation and I'll never forgive these bags of dust for trying to harm my family in such a disgusting way.

As russian i can say 1 thing. Rn we know how to bypass everything. Russia use 60billion rubles for blocking vpns, but nothing can stop gamers.

By blocking Discord, our government did not take into account one thing - everything bad that they described about Discord is also in our local analogues and you can access this content without registration

Fun fact, RKN already blocked themselves several times now (even though it was happening by mistake).
I WILL NEVER START USING VK TEAMS OR OTHER CRAP, I WANNA INTERACT WITH FOREIGN PEOPLE!

Bro it's been like 2 months how did you even see my comment

Fun fact. Allegedly, Russian drones use discord for video streaming. As some guy on reddit said, “there is no other platform, that has such high audio and video quality and encryption as discord”. Some ISPs in Moscow started unbanning discord, so I assume that’s true. As a Russian, that’s the most funny thing I’ve seen so far with Roskomnadzor, maybe except for them banning themselves

Fun fact: The article of Roskomnadzor CEO in Wikipedia (the site violates the legislation of the Russian Federation) was hacked and edited: the line with the place of work, place of birth has been editet to "Return Discord", "ROSKOMNADZOR GAYS" and other. Photo of this article, and photo of Roskomnadzor article has been changed to Discord logo. It got to the point that wikipedia temporarily disabled the editing function.
This battle was legendary)

for you information: People are not happy about it, big russian twitch streamers like BratishkinOff have filed a group complaint to people in charge of Roscomnadzor, and calls out every adult to do the same thing, although knowing Russian goverment, it probably wont help.

Whenever a state official says "there are no issues, all they need is to remove illegal materials", this is a confirmation that they will not stop blocking. This is pushing the blame for non-compliance with unreasonable demands to the opponent.
