I used charcoal to get the smell out of my car when my teenager left RAW CHICKEN in the car in summertime for DAYS after a trip to the store. It smelled like a dead body. That is bbq brick type that you used, that is not what you need. You need what is called activated charcoal you get it at fish supply stores or even Petsmart. Put a damp washcloth on top.

Regular charcoal works, you just need to crush it into a powder.

Best place is to buy them in the sun in a cloth bag. Put some baking soda in one for good measure with an essential oil. The sun is the world's best and freest deodorizer. Use it well.

Clean the car first...
Alsom you cant use regular carcoal. Activated instead which has 100 times more open pores. Also, a couple of small bowls won´t do much, you need to break and spread it as much as possible...

Gotta deep clean the interior first by vacuuming and wiping down all surfaces, especially the windows. Then you can place powder or solid charcoal inside the vehicle for a few hours at least. I also added baking soda with the charcoal bricks after I finished cleaning.

You are suppose to use activated charcoal. Also you didn't even clean the car out. Smh. Research and reading should have happened before you wasted your time and ours posting this misinformed video.

You need activated charcoal which has high surface area to weight. The briquettes won't work and should had been ground to increase surface area for absorption. Thy at least need to be grounded, steamed, and placed in a cloth or burlap container to avoid spilling and to help absorb moisture.
