Fun fact, when Zeus killed his father, he also castrated him. I don't remember if this was supposed to be symbolic or to cause pain, but i remember it happened

Netflix canceling this after one season was the biggest “F-You” to their users to date.

Dude, Kaos somehow took the Greek Gods, who were already super f*cked up, and somehow made them MORE f*cked up. That's impressive.

The way this entire show is written, calmly narrated by Prometheus while he’s being crucified, is just brilliant…

So fun fact about some versions of the Greek myth. Chronos is the son of Uranus, and he killed his father the same way that zuess would kill chronos. In some versions Uranus actually curses chronos to die in much the same way he did. This could be considered a curse but some versions make it out to be more of a self fulfilling prophecy since it was more-so the paranoia of the potential death that drives chronos to attempt to kill his children which sets then on the path to defeat him.

Basic “cycles of violence.” We must be better type stuff. God of war, Percy Jackson, etc, etc.

Sad this isn’t getting a second season, well for now. Add it to the growing pile of shows that Netflix won’t renew but maybe IDK probably not but I lose nothing by hoping.

Zeus played everyone so hard that facepalm became religious gesture.

Zeus just changed who he killed. The killing never stopped

Ya know thats the sorta system we humans would follow if someone pulled it off and we would do so blindly.

I love Greek mythology and I’d highly recommend Stephen Fry’s book Mythos as it tells you the origin stories of all of the Gods and even gives you their ‘family tree’. His second book Heroes is excellent too, obviously focusing on the Greek Heroes and Demigods including Heracles (commonly mistakenly called Hercules - he was named after Hera so he’s definitely Heracles), Orpheus, Perseus, Achilles, Theseus, Bellerophon, Cadmus and Asclepius. Dionysus was also born a demigod before becoming an actual God in the myths. If you have an interest in the real stories of the Greek Gods then you should definitely read these books, they’re really well written and easy to follow plus they’re just great stories !

People mentioning how Zeus overthrowing his father mirrors how his father overthrew his grandfather might be interested to know that there's a similar story (sky-god wielding thunder overthrowing the former supreme god by castration) in the religion of the Hurrian people, from within Turkey.

Kumarbi was the god of the earth/fertility (maybe paralleled in Zeus' mother Gaia?) who was castrated by his own son, Teshub, who was a thunderbolt-wielding sky god. This came after Kumarbi himself had castrated *his* father, Anu, to overthrow him.

Cool little cultural link between Greece and the Near East there.

They're describing the soul trap that we all see as the tunnel of light upon death.

That was close. Luckily Neflex put a stop on it. They ALMOST made a great show.

And then what happens when the gods became myth and science/technology took over people’s lives? A greater distraction was invented. It wasn’t a weapon or war that destroyed Olympus and the gods. It was abandonment.

I recognised that voice, that's the one true king chained there 👀

Netflix often cancels shows that appear to be doing well because they primarily rely on a metric called "completion rate, " which measures the percentage of viewers who finish an entire season, and if that number isn't high enough compared to the production cost, they may decide to cancel a show even if it has a dedicated fanbase; this strategy is driven by the need to maximize profitability and constantly produce new content to attract subscribers.

Oh, how the truth is hidden in plan sight. They tell you, but do you listen.
