A 13-year-old boy has been charged in the shooting death of his 12-year-old sister inside a Montgomery County home.

The district attorney's office said charges of third-degree murder are pending against the boy.

Dr. Ian Hood, forensic pathologist with the Montgomery County Coroner's Office, performed an autopsy on the body of the 12-year-old which determined the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the chest and the manner of death was a homicide.

Police were called to a home on Larchwood Court in the Collegeville section of Upper Providence Township around 7:51 a.m. Friday, the district attorney's office said.

Officials say the mother of the children, Daisy Vasquez, asked her son to go outside to her car to get a 9mm handgun that was legally registered to her.

I can't believe this BS instead of giving this child counseling, they charge him and hold him without bail no charges for the mother. Smh..

The girl went to my school. I never knew her but it’s crazy to think this stuff can happen anywhere and at any time.

That Mom was definitely definitely not thinking . Did she even bother to explain to the kid that the gun was loaded ?
He probably simply pointed it at his sister as a joke thinking it had no bullets

This happened in my neighborhood; I guess we're not too far removed from this depressing bs as we think we are.

Do these parents NOT talk to their kids about dangers of weapons, in general??

I've taught kids to safely handle knives. Even though they are everyday household items, you just never know. Wrong handing can create unnecessary accidents.

Guns. DEFINITELY should be discussed & should NEVER be left out. Safety is so ESSENTIAL.

You never know how or what could hurt your child. Therefore, cover all basis. Never assume anything with children. You just never know what could happen.

First of all who tells a child to go bring a loaded gun like does he know how to hold it, like what if he was trying to play with the sister saying I will shoot you thinking the gun is all a joke and nothing serious will happen, like what does a 13 yr old know, they know no better, this is sad, I don’t think he knew the gravity of what he did, he thought it was a toy gun or might have mistakenly shot his sister trying to act like he wanted to but I don’t think he wanted to kill her, this is just sad, poor kids lost their lives due to a very stupid mother

Wow! "Young man, run out to my car and grab my fully loaded Glock and bring it here! Now! And don't shoot your sister."

Role model issues . This country has no men. Its illegal to be a real man as human rights dont exist at all.
