A wrongfully convicted man was released from prison after nearly 20 years. Marvin Haynes was 16 years old in 2004 when he was convicted of killing a man in a flower shop in Minneapolis. The Great North Innocence Project took on his case and challenged the eyewitness testimony, claiming that Haynes did not fit the description of the suspect originally described. A judge agreed that the testimony was unreliable. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.

being ACCIDENTLY convicted is ONE thing, being INTENTIONALLY targeted by corrupt DA is another matter altogether

I can’t even imagine spending one day behind bars for something I didn’t do. But 20 YEARS?!?? Bless him. He seems to have a positive outlook for his future and I’m here for it .

This is amazing but the truth is there will never be justice for cases like this one. Nothing will ever never be close to making it up for 19 years in prison.

Now the person that convicted him should spend 19 years in jail. Sad thing is this happens all too often and there is no consequences for the DA.

“All I wanna do is move forward, and get my life back.” Not bitter?? I’d be ready to sue and get some compensation. But I’m so proud that he is level headed and ready to reclaim his life. At least he’s only 36

$10, 000, 000 settlement! This man did not deserve this. No one does. My heart breaks for him. God bless him.

Police should investigate to arrest and not arrest to investigate

Imagine being 16 and wrongfully accused of murder with a 19 year sentence. 16!! And they say in North America it’s “innocent until proven guilty.” (Especially for a case this big like wtf) I am in no way whatsoever trusting that statement anymore lmao💀

Ok that's good but what about the person who accused him?? What punishment will they deserve?? 🤔

That's nice, and I wish the best for him and his family. Also, I feel like when you're found innocent, after wrongfully being accused, they should give you one million dollars for every year you're in prison. Money isn't everything, but this should teach them to get it right the first time.

Hope he can live a happy and healthy life with his family going forward. Lucky for him he is still only 36. He’s still young and I hope he’s living the best life.
