One of the simplest, clearest and straightforward videos I have seen. Well done! I have put off doing this project for far too long. The hold up has always been the anchoring of the fence to my drywall. Not anymore. Thanks!

(P.S. I would consider using a pressure treated 2x4 if it is not showing in the front, as well as 4x4 pressure treated wood for your fence posts.)

Thanks, super helpful! One tweak I'd make: only do an upside down "U" of caulking around the holes, leaving the bottom open to allow drainage. If (when) water finds a way in, it should be given an easy path out.

How did you choose where in your stucco wall to put the board/holes? Did you find a stud there, or is a stud usually there--3" from a corner? Did the lag bolts have a special holding property to make them not need to worry about finding a stud?

Great video. I've done this same project before but didn't think of the silicone around the hole.
I also like your drilling the diameter of the washers into the 2x4 so that they recess nicely.
One suggestion is using Pressure Treated 2x4 so that it will not warp or absorb moisture as easily.
Also, if you leave about 2" of the 2x4 OFF the ground you can hose off leaves and dirt easier.

It's nice to see young folks take the initiative and do something like this instead of wasting their mind on stupid social media, and destroying important brain cells. Good job I tip my sombrero to you . lol

Does anybody know if this setup will hold a gate?

My side yard needs a fence gate to hide my trash bins and I would like to hang a gate fence on something like this attached to my stucco wall. I have all concrete so I don’t want to cut concrete and put a post on the other side.

Are Lag bolts the only way to do it?
What about sleeve bolts for outside stucco? Any help

I need to re-anchor my deck railing into the stucco. I'm just wondering if that 3" offset is universal for hitting the framing. I don't know what the current anchor's offset is, but clearly it didn't hold. Not sure if it affects framing or stucco construction, but I'm in the Mid-Atlantic region, so moderate climate.

Amazing, I am trying to close in my outdoor patio but have a stucco home as well as 2 stucco pillars. What is the best way to find the studs on the pillar?

what thickness lag bolts are these? 1/4"?

How do you know there is wood behind the stucco? That's the big mystery in most stucco attachments. Easy at a corner like this but how about, say, a mid-wall trellis?

Did you use a stud finder to the stud behind the stucco wall? How did you find the stud? The stud finder didn't work for me.

Hello. I did this today and used 3/8×5" inch lagbolts but they were too long. It just kept turning and left an inch at the top but the bottom one was solid all the way to press the stud into the wall securely. I recommend getting a few different length like a 4" 4 1/2" and 5" if one needs to add another piece of wood. 🍕

you should hold the 2x4 off the concrete walkway a few inches so its easy to clean, and leaves don't pile up there.

Exactly what I needed. Thanks! Only difference is I will be using a 4 x 4, so thinking I should use 6 or 6 1/2 lag bolts. (And I also learned from these comments NOT to go to woodprix - ha!)
