The Tren Maya is not just a mode of transportation, it's an experience. From the moment you step aboard, you'll be immersed in Mexico's culture and traditions, with local music, food, and art on display. The train itself is a marvel of modern engineering, designed to be both sustainable and comfortable, with amenities like dining cars and private cabins.

Alstom is committed to providing high-quality, safe, and comfortable rail infrastructure that incorporates world-class technology. The Mayan Train project, will be one of Mexico's most significant rail network infrastructure projects in history. It presents a unique opportunity to stimulate economic growth in the southeast region, create jobs, and support local manufacturing, while preserving natural areas, ecosystems, and the environment, promoting tourism, and safeguarding local indigenous cultures.

As part of the consortium that has been awarded the contract for the Mayan Train project, Alstom will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, and delivering 42 X'trapolisTM trains, as well as the railway systems, workshops, and garages. The first section of the Mayan Train will begin operating in December 2023, covering 1,545 kilometers and connecting the states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.

The consortium was chosen partly because it could guarantee that the 42 trains would be manufactured locally at the Ciudad Sahagún site in the state of Hidalgo, meeting the objective of building a "Train for Mexico, built in Mexico." The Ciudad Sahagún plant is an iconic railroad construction site in Mexico and has a history of manufacturing over 2,000 locomotives from 1998 to 2015.
